Participant[quote1251800254=comeandtakeit]Well I went to both the Mcafee and windows firewall and clicked restore to defaults and since then, when windows starts up it will sometimes connect and work. When it hasnt, I just repair the connection and then it works…confused as all get out…[/quote1251800254]
It is important to allow the connection through the firewall. I would personally not use McAfee and would replace it with Avira, Avast or AVG. I currently use Avast and can recommend it. If you decide to uninstall McAfee then after uninstalling with Add/Remove programs in Control Panel you need to run MCPr.exe tool to remove residual components that are not removed when uninstalling.Quote:The other thing I did was update the drivers too but I realized I hadnt restarted since I did that so its been like that since the restart.Yes a reboot is require after changing the driver.
As you have to keep repairing the connection try rolling back the Atheros driver to 7.6.1.160 as the issue may well be to do with your router model which later drivers do not agree with. This driver works well for me with my Netgear DG834G router.
If there appears to be a problem with Wireless Zero you may have better luck installing the Atheros Client Utility (ACU) connection utility program to connect instead. I think you will find that on the Samsung supplied CD and is also contained in the latest driver download package you have.
Conversely if you are using the ACU already then try uninstalling and use wireless zero which I find personally very reliable. You might be interested to read the posting by kh80760 in this thread who had similar problems.

ParticipantThanks stub101 – Useful post, wouldn’t have guessed that.
Any chance of posting a picture of the battery label as it sounds like it’s a topic for a wiki entry.jeepers01
ParticipantI would undo the tweaks one by one until the problem clears. ie. retrace your steps

ParticipantRight Click Wireless system tray icon > Status > Properties > Wireless Networks
Under Preferred networks select your network > Properties > Connection
Check the check box Connect when this network in in rangeWhen you press ok your network under Preferred networks will have “(Automatic)” appended to the name
If there are other networks listed you do not use then these can be removed
Next time you connect it should automatically find and connect to your network
Edit: Oh well that’s two answers the same – both typing at the same time haha 🙂

ParticipantKRS1 – you could try laptopbitz.co.uk although they do not list the NC20 they do say
Quote:If you cant see your laptop listed please email sales@laptopbits.co.uk or call us on 01772 454300mk-electronic.com in Germany do NC10 spares but they might be able to help.
It may well be worth contacting digicare.co.uk as I believe they have the warranty repair contract for Samsung in the UK
As has been said in the previous post, ebay only seem to be listing white US keyboards
Presumably washing it did not work out for you in the other thread. Why not chuck it in the dishwasher on a warm wash as you have nothing to lose now. Just make sure the filter screen is fitted in the bottom of the dishwasher else some of the key tops might go down the drain!

Participant[quote1251746174=comeandtakeit]I pinged the address listed under these categories (from when I pulled up ipconfig/all)
Default Servers
DHCP Servers
DNS Servers
And it timed out 4 times with 4 packets sent, none returned.[/quote1251746174]
You need to Ping the IP Address .. 192.168.0.xx or whatever it is on your machine.
It is under Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adaptor and has to be the same IP address as your router IP address in order to work as a gateway for the internetjeepers01
Participant[quote1251745650=comeandtakeit]I pulled up ipconfig on both my current computer thats wirelessly connected and this one. There is a difference in two places.
Under :
Ethernet adapter wireless connection, the setting listed as
IP Address is slighty different in the last digit. Im pretty sure thats normal but..just giving as much info as I can. Im no computer guy to be sure.[/quote1251745650]
Yes that is correct. Each machine on the network will be assigned a unique IP addressQuote:The other difference is at the top under “Windows IP Configuration” is on this computer (functioning one..) IP Routing is enabled and on the netbook, it isnt. Is that it?No that is correct and WINS Proxy Enabled should be No as well ( they are both No on my functioning network)
You should have DHCP Enabled ..Yes
and Autoconfiguration Enabled .. Yesjeepers01
Participant[quote1251741230=comeandtakeit]Updated all my drivers and rebooted the router. Still no go.[/quote1251741230]
I would check the Gateway IP address and make sure it is correct. It could be that your wireless network connection has become corrupt. You might find the solutions in this thread may help you diagnose your problem.
No internet connectionHope this helps and let us know how you get on

There are pretty comprehensive lists of games in this thread you may not have seen. You might find some more RTS games listed.
Games that run on the NC10
and on the sammy wiki

Participant[quote1251727245=bleron]The fan is just running allot and gets quiet warm tho the cpu/hd temp rarely goes over say 42c. I thought it might be a build up of dust etc but that doesnt seem to be the problem :S[/quote1251727245]That sounds like normal operating temperatures to me, so I wouldn’t worry unduly. Mine runs between 37C and 42C ish in 22C ambient and I think, from memory, the fan cuts in at around 37C.
If you are using the sammy in a higher ambient then it would be expected that the temperature may be a little higher and it would obviously be prudent to ensure that the machine ventilation is not impeded.

ParticipantCrucial is good and reliable RAM. So long as the RAM type is SODIMM RAM it will in practice only run at 667Mhz speed.
But as you say it is working fine so no worries 🙂 -
