Participant[quote1253387711=Acumen]It’s an Atheros AR9285 according to Windows.
The latest driver is installed too… 7.7.0.329 (driver page). Thanks Jeepers01[/quote1253387711]
As a suggestion you could try rolling back through the driver versions until you hit the jackpot 🙂jeepers01

That’s strange as it was reported as Realtek in this thread, perhaps they were mistaken?jeepers01
ParticipantThe wireless card is a RealTek RTL8192E 802.11n. I would check what driver you have and see if there are updated drivers at Realtek of use DriverMax
BTW Welcome – Acumen 🙂

Participant[quote1253361773=matttaylor]I received my N140 yesterday and I love it.
I want to install Windows 7 on it as soon as possible so I’ve been trying to gather all the information I need regarding that from this site.
I’d hate to install Windows 7 and then spend hours trying to sort out all the issues that others have already solved.[/quote1253361773]
Matt, you may not have seen that there is plenty of useful information in the sammywiki on setting up Windows 7 and required drivers etc. These links should be useful
NC10 Windows 7
How To:Setup Windows 7 on the NC10Perhaps if you find any more up to date information you could put yourself forward to update your findings in the wiki (login details are the same as for this forum). Thanks 🙂

Participantmrgreaper – Welcome
I’m sure Jez (forum owner) will arrange to have your username changed if you send him a PM 🙂VLC Player runs very smoothly but you could try un-installing Chrome as some users have had issues with it. It is worth a try.
Normal video does not over tax the sammy although it struggles with high definition, but mp4 and avi etc run well I have found. HQ in youtube is very slow but normal quality is fine even at full screen.
You may want to try the KMPlayer as an alternative video player.
If you have Avast now did you use the McAfee MCPR removal tool after the McAfee uninstall?
Regarding tips have a look at the wiki faq and the wiki section on the N110
Hope this helps
September 18, 2009 at 11:36 pm in reply to: chipset driver for NC20 – "Chipset (ver.3.0.0.0)" – [samsung.com] #201361jeepers01
Participantlisek – I do not have an NC20 but as far as I know XP does not directly report the current chipset driver information other than is contained in Device Manager > System devices.
Therefore using a software utility package such as DriverMax will obtain the chipset driver installed and offer the latest update available if there is one. This is a free, quick and simple process.
You can use DriverMax to identify your current driver and then you could install the driver that plevi suggested if you wished.
I hope this helps clarify your question.

Participant[quote1253314751=naz101]Hi guys,
I currently use microsoft word 2007 for my essays and stuff.
recently when I have tried to save files through word and try to access the drives, it comes up woth “initiating root files” and then takes a couple of minutes doing this before I can save a file.Any ideas why it is doing this?[/quote1253314751]
naz101 – This is apparently a ‘bug’ issue that many people have experienced and is commonly caused by Windows waiting for network drive(s) to time out because it cannot connect to it/them, hence the delays.Go to My Computer – make sure that all of your network drives are connected, if you have any.
If any that show their status as Disconnected double-click them to reconnect.
If they won’t reconnect right click and select “Disconnect” to remove them from the list. Also ‘old’ printer drivers such as HP have been known to cause this issue.
This thread on the Microsoft Forum has more information
I would think it could also possibly be caused by a USB device that has not been properly disconnected using the Safely Remove Hardware system tray icon procedure.
Hope this helps

Participantmatt_tee – You can also watch over 30 live streaming UK TV channels in full screen with tvcatchup – for free and the quality is better than from bbc or itv websites as well 🙂
You will enjoy your sammy – promise 🙂

I was reviewing tracked threads for a reply posting elsewhere and noticed this thread had ended abruptly, so it was a genuine question to ascertain if things were resolved.
Thanks and Mikeevans is probably having a holiday 🙂

Participant[quote1253295719=colindee]Any Idea what this means and how to cure it?
Wireless Network connection (BtHome hub)
Speed: 54.0Mbps
Signal Strength: Excellent
Status:Limited or no connectivity[/quote1253295719]
It could be a number of things. What has changed since installing the Atheros 7.6.1.160 driver – I thought you said this cured it?
What wireless encryption are you using – eg. WEP or WPAx ?
ie. if you are using WPAx then does it stabilise using WEP or even OpenWhat drivers have you tried apart from 7.6.1.160 ?
Try setting the router to G only mode.
When you get ‘limited or no connectivity’ again try right click and choose Repair.
Check what wireless channels are being used by neighbouring networks. Change your channel to be as far away as possible from them. They can be checked with Network Stumbler
Check your network settings as per details in threads below
No internet connection
Help! NC10 causes router to drop ADSL connection.

September 18, 2009 at 3:11 pm in reply to: chipset driver for NC20 – "Chipset (ver.3.0.0.0)" – [samsung.com] #201359jeepers01
ParticipantOn my NC10 DriverMax lists out the chipset drivers and then searches and offers updates and versions that are available for download.
This would do the same on the N120, so may be of help
