Participant[quote1258315230=ThisIs2009]OK thanks! Not the end of the world I guess. When I first used Windows 7, I thought that was the actual boot screen lol :-)[/quote1258315230]

That’s better! LOLIt’s the System Restore prog that lets you take it back to a certain restore point. I just wanted to take it back to a time when Media Player worked, my vodfone dongle was recognised and worked, and all was well with the world.
I guess I could do a full recovery as I don’t have that much data on it yet.

If the system Restore Points in XP are corrupt then a full recovery is probably the best solution, especially considering your previous Media Player problems as well.Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Sorry Jeepers, you’re gonna have to talk in English to me!

SRSIII = Samsung Recovery Solution III applicationYou can also do a full recovery by pressing F4 when the sammy is booting up. Press function key F4 when you see the bios screen flash up on the display.
Is that English enough? 😀

How do I get the proper Windows 7 boot screen on the NC10? It’s just the Vista one for me and a few other people, from what I’ve seen.

This is discussed in another recent thread and AFAIK no working fix for this has emerged as yet.Hope this helps

ParticipantNetbooknewbie – Is it the SRSIII application that is failing?
Maybe try re-installing the application or is it failing on F4 at boot?jeepers01

Yeah no joy with Resolution Manager with AOE2 🙁 Shame!

Oh well, it was worth a try 😕jeepers01
Participant[quote1258305634=ThisIs2009]Is this possible? I’ve just downloaded Windows 95, 98, 98SE and Me and I was wondering which of those is worth installing on the NC10 🙂 Thanks![/quote1258305634]FWIW IMHO none of them are worth installing on the NC10 and I doubt you would be able to get hold of the drivers either.
Why would you consider wanting to install such old OS’s ?jeepers01
ParticipantM667 – Welcome to the forum
The standard NC10 does not come with the mini pci-e connector fitted except the Special Edition version.
If you think you may have 3G fitted then model number in the UK is NP-NC10-HAZ1UK.Your information is showing the pci-e port empty but as a full check see if there is anything present in the Device Manager. If you see under Modems > Samsung HSPA Modem you are in luck.
Hope this helps
BTW no need to apologise, your English is very good 🙂

Concerning your query about the bios upgrade, my advice would be to stick with the version you have for your XP installation and if everything is working satisfactorily then there is no need to change it. Samsung do not unfortunately provide detailed rellease notes with their bios upgrades but the latest one has been released for Windows 7 compatibility – the chief benefit being it allows brightness control which you will not need if you are staying with XP.
AVG, Avast and Avira antivirus programs run well on the sammy and should offer language support, but I have not checked. Microsoft have released a free antivirus recently called Microsoft Security Essentials which has been reported on this forum to run well but it’s effectiveness has not been proven although I have no reason to doubt it.
Hope this helps

Have you tried the camera software on the drivers dvd supplied with the machine. You may have to run it in XP compatibility mode.
The xp camera driver is here and may install in Win 7 but as you say there appears not to be a Samsung Win 7 driver released which is strange.Have you tried re-installing Easy Speedup Manager as this may cure the problems.
Hope this heps

Participantwhiterose – Dual booting has it’s advantages, I have XP on the C: drive and Win 7 on the D: drive. When the machine is booted up a menu screen is presented and you can choose either operating system to boot up; it defaults to Win 7.

ParticipantEnchoate – You have probably disabled the Synaptics Pointing device 🙂
To activate XP see here
I’ve been using Avast but recently trying out Microsoft Security Essentials, both free. AVG runs well on the NC10
For a firewall I use Zone Alarm in XP. Choose the free option when installing.
Hope this helps
