Participantcharta77 – Glad the links helped 🙂
This is a copy of the boot.ini on my dual boot NC10. XP in on C: and Win7 is on D:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)WINDOWS=”Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition” /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
Hope this helpsjeepers01
Participantap0091 – You need for your NC10 PC2-5300 / 2GB / 667MHz / DDR2 / 200pin SoDIMM Laptop Memory either 667Mhz or 800Mhz. If you choose 800Mhz it will run at 667Mhz so there is no speed advantage to be gained.
I Have Kingston KVR667D2S5/2G ram modules installed in our NC10’s and they work just fine.
Hope this helps

Participant[quote1258396869=cm17]On a similar issue – my webcam in Skype freezes every 2 or three minutes. Anyone come across this?[/quote1258396869]
I get occasional freezes in Skype which is fixed by stopping and starting the video. Seems to happen on both ends of the link and I think it’s largely related to the prevailing line quality at the time. That said, it held up for an hours conversation the other night, but in the afternoon it was freezing every few minutes but there was not a regular pattern emerging.
I’m running the latest version – 4.1.0.179 in Win 7 and may try earlier versions as this has worked for some.Hope this helps
Edit: tonytb – the other party are running Skype version 4.1.0.179 as well

Posted this the Applications forum todayA solution for playing JVC camcorder(mod files) problems
Quote:Question 1: “I recently purchased a JVC camcorder that records video as .MOD files. I can’t seem to edit the files or play them on my PC. Is there a way to convert .MOD files to .MPG or something that works on my computer?”Question 2: I have a video file off my JVC as well and wonted to play it on WMP so i changed the file extension from .MOD to .MPEG. Now the problem i have is that the video quality is poor. It is like the video cant keep up with the playing speed, lines drag when something moves. I know this quality is poor because it plays fine on cyberlink power dvd. Any help plz on how to fix the poor quality????
Question 3: I change the ext. mod to avi or mpg , and it works but the problem no sound at all.. .try to burn it into dvd, no luck, i try to burn it into vcd no luck also…
Introduction: .MOD files are JVC’s implementation of MPEG-2 transport streams, similar to a VOB file on a DVD or the M2T files used on Sony hard drive camcorders.
Solution:
I actually just found a program called Aiseesoft Mod Converter. This program will allow you to export your video(s) as .AVI,WMV,MP4,3GP files etc. Here is a brief overview of how to do it:Make preparations:
Install and run Aiseesoft Mod Converter
Quick Guide:
Step 1. Add files
Step 2. Set output video format
Step 3. Click the “Start” button to start the conversion. This tool also allows you to split, join, crop Mod/Tod files, it is very powerful.
I hope this helps, if anyone has a better method or a better software for doing this, please let me know!
Action taken: Deleted

Participantmaryloar – Welcome to the forum
When you use Skype it will control and display the camera picture within the Skype software. You will also be able to size the picture within Skype. The exact same situation exists if you use Windows Live Messenger. The webcam software you have (Cyberlink ) is only really of use to take pictures of yourself 🙂
As tonytb suggests, try the Play Camera software which is designed to work with the Namuga 1.3M Webcam. It has less bells and whistles than the Cyberlink software but I think you will find it more to your liking.
BTW Play Camera runs both in XP and Win 7
Hope this helps

Virtualisation and emulation are the same difference to me! I always thought that Windows 98SE was the absolute minimum version that would work with Wi-Fi, maybe its only certain adapters. I am strictly a Windows guy, I will refuse to run anything else. Sorry but its the truth!

You are correct that wireless works in 98se as I have an old notebook with 98se that worked well with a wireless dongle. 🙂jeepers01

Participant[quote1258323655=Strider]Much obliged for the quick reply jeepers:) I was wondering if this is normal as my wife’s Acer doesn’t do it. Maybe it is the slow processor taking it’s time to shut down all of the Windows programs?[/quote1258323655]
I don’t know if it’s normal as I’ve not seen any other reports about it 🙂It’s probably a Win 7 ‘improvement’ instead of the XP grey task manager countdown screen we are used to. 😀
Lets see if other forum users have experienced the same issue.

ParticipantStrider – I get that sometimes on a shutdown but it only lasts a few seconds as it closes the running process and I don’t think it’s anything to be concerned about 🙂

You could try rolling back the driver to the previous version when you are in the Atheros Properties > drivers tab.If that is not an option then try installing the 7.6.1.160 driver.
You could also try removing the wireless connection for your router and then reconnecting and re-inputting your wireless key.
Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.
