Hi Jeepers,Good points there – let me clarify – although it hasn’t completely collapsed, there’s a gradient sloping down to the right. It only works if I hit it bang in the middle, a few mm either way and it doesn’t register a hit.
If I could work out how to post a picture on here I’d show you.

Mike – I haven’t taken the sammy keyboard apart but if it is like larger PC keyboards there is a stout wire that stops one side being pressed down. ie. it balances the pressure evenly each side of the switch post assembly in the middle. It the wire has become dislodged on one side then this would explain what has happened to your space bar.If you removed the keyboard then you may be able to see what is going on beneath the space bar because it should be visible from the front edge face.
There are instructions here for removing the keyboard and it is quite a straight forward procedure
[NC10] How to remove the keyboard (not 56k friendly)BTW if you need to post pictures there are instructions here
Hope this helps.

Strange problem but have you tried different resolution settings on the sammy?
Do the monitors have any further adjustments when set in PC input mode and in the Intel Graphics display settings try setting the Aspect Ratio Options.Hope this helps

Have you tried re-installing the Synaptics Touchpad driver and or upgrading to the latest version.
I don’t know what machine or OS you are running but in Win 7 on my NC10 the latest Synaptics driver has the 2 finger scroll function built in as well as Pinch.Hope this helps

Check the event logs for errors and warnings
Have you disabled any services, if so re-enable them and re-test.
Try briefly ( temporarily) disabling your antivirus software to see if it is causing the hang at bootup.
Try rolling back to a recent Windows Restore Point at a time before you maybe installed some apps and or received some windows updates.
Check for Spyware/malware/viruses.
Run Ccleaner cleaner and registry cleaner components
Run Auslogics Disk Defrag and then run it a second time with it set to optimize the drive.
Check you have the latest drivers installed. Drivermax does this and will help identify any that are out of date.Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.

Participantmikeymoo – Well now you have your feet sorted out and then the space bar starts playing up – wonder if they are related or did you accidentally spill some of your lime on it 🙂 🙂
Seriously, I would think this is an item that should be covered by the warranty.
You might want to try dockehr’s tip of getting a canned air canister and blasting out any foreign matter that may possibly be causing it, but it sounds like a dodgy switch contact.
Does the space bar appear to function mechanically normally? ie. has it lost it’s springiness and perhaps not returning to it’s full height after being pressed.
Hope this helps, keep us posted

ParticipantEnchoate – I posted a list of sammy programs with brief descriptions the other day in this post which may be helpful.
For the function keys you need to have Easy Display Manager running and also MagicKBD enabled in startup.
Start > Run > msconfig > StartupHope this helps
