ParticipantThe 8192E card operates at 2.4Ghz not 5Ghz AFAIK and this can cause compatibilty issues with some routers.
Therefore it may be an idea to get it working on b/g first before testing out on the n band.

ParticipantNetbooknewbie – If you are talking about Windows Update, go to Control Panel > Windows Update > Change Settings then you can choose to have Windows Update “Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them”
If you are talking about Samsung Update Plus, my advice is don’t use it. Try DriverMax.com instead.
If IE is crashing when viewing the Samsung Download site are you using IE6. If so consider moving to Firefox preferably or IE8
An alternative download site is here that may help in the interim
Hope this helps

ParticipantFifi – My guess is that you are using the propriatory connection software that came with the wireless dongle.
Try switching back to using the Windows wireless zero connection manager exactly like you will be using on your sammy at the moment.
I have found these manufacturers connection manager packages to be unreliable, exhibiting exactly the problem you are getting. My direct experience has been with both Netgear and Belkin dongles and they always work correctly once Windows takes control of the connection.
Note: you have to have the manufacturers connection software installed in order for the correct device driver to be installed, but that’s all you need it for.
Hope this helps and let us know how you get on

Participantjose – Your welcome
Just to clarify, from what I have read both on this forum and others is that users have reported good results with some external speakers. I can confirm that the sound quality though headphones on my NC10 is excellent and they are not particularly good headphones 🙂

ParticipantBrammo – Welcome to the forum
I assume you have re-booted the router
Try setting the router for b/g bands
Try installing Driver version 1676.10.911.2009 assuming you have the Realtek RTL8192E wireless card fitted
Hope this helps

I think you will find it is the speakers that let down the sound quality/reproduction. Trying it out on headphones will show that the amplifier is quite good, so with some good external speakers you should get pleasing results.Hope this helps

Is there a triggering event or particular application that you suspect is causing the shutdowns ie. is there a common denominator it can be pinned down to or is it random shutdowns.?
Also is it when the sammy is moved or handled?
Is the message you are seeing on Windows boot up saying Windows was not shut down properly?
I expect it is.Hope this helps

The SD card slot supports MMC, SD and SDHC cards. You may be best off getting an external usb card reader for the xD card.
Hope this helps

Did you install Samsung Easy Display Manager in Win 7?
If you are dual booting with Win 7 on the D: drive this will be of interest

Yip, if my netbook had an atheros card, that would probably work. However, this n510 has a realtek RTL8192E. Thanks for the tip though, it was one of the many places I looked. I am sure with a the newer drivers, it might become available for the Realtek, but not with the drivers I am using.[/quote1262546045]There are several Realtek 8192 drivers available so it’s worth checking them out.Quote:PS How do I add a picture as I would like to attach a pic or 2 of my N510 where you can see the growing crack. It is currently about 1.5″ and growing. When are you sending it back?
