Thanks for the link Jeepers, found a lot of stuff there. However, i can’t really seem to understand all the information. If i look at the first picture here, i get the pinout. (also, what’s the information on the second (top left) pinout about) Guess i should solder on the same pins but on the other side (haven’t got the connector yet so i’m just guessing). But to me it seems like that is different information than i get in this link.
Could anyone help me so that i understand?[/quote1266011806]
The top left (blue) [url=http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&tl=en&u=http://forum.eeepcnews.de/viewtopic.php%3Ff%3D56%26t%3D6888%26sid%3D7941b10f4dfed079d307515522c45fbc
]picture[/url] is showing the motherboard connection pads for the 20 pin SMD MNT4 (J501) connector which is not fitted on the standard NC10. On the 3G enabled NC10’s the connector is fitted and mates with a corresponding connector mounted on a sub pcb board. The sub board, which contains the sim holder, is then fixed on the two stand off screw posts at either side.(M500 and M501). This allows for the sim holder to line up with the slot in the back of the case. The J501 connections are routed via the motherboard to the slot 2 pci-e connector pins.
In the picture the person has soldered to these pads small wires to the sim card holder. As these pads are very very tiny it may be easier to take the sim wires to the pci-e connector pins.
pci-e Pin Function
10 >>>> UIM_DATAIO
12 >>>> UIM_CLK
14 >>>> UIM_RESET
16 >>>> UIM_VPP
08 >>>> UIM_VCC(PWR)I don’t know where the Sim connectons identified in the right of the picture come from? They look totally wrong to me. These pinouts are correct AFAIK.
You could trace from the pci-e pins to the J501 pads to identify the corresponding pads but the soldering to the pads may prove too challenging.
Quote:Also, what pin (goes hand in hand with former Q i guess) goes to what pin on the SIM-component in this picture (scroll down to the picture captioned “SIM components pinout:”That’s for the NC20 which has the sim card solder pads fitted and is totally different to the NC10 which has the J501 pad arrangements as described above.

Hope this helps

Participantflateric – Good news and you will probably notice the Samsung drive being a little bit quieter as well 🙂

Participanterich – Welcome to the forum
When you say by accident what did you do?
Did you use the Samsung Recovery Solution software application and maybe interrupt it mid process? If you pressed F4 at boot you could try the procedure again and see if a full restore will correct the problem.
Hope this helps

Participant[quote1265997104=markevans135]I’ve go the nc10 with the built in sim card slot, and want to use my “3” network simcard, i see from the forum that i will need to install samsungs own conection manager software for it to work, but can’t find a version of that on the samsung website for windows 7??
Thanks in advance!!!

Welcome to the forumSamsung CM 1.6.9.0101 works well but, in Vista compatibility mode and Run as Administrator , else it locks up in the settings menus.
You may need to set up a new profile for “3” if it auto detects the wrong default settings.
Any problems, just ask.
Hope this helps

ParticipantDomino – This guide will be helpful for disassembly to remove the screen.
Don’t know if it is already contained in Jayne’s very comprehensive list of links above 🙂If the screen shows not signs of cracking it could just be that the ribbon connector at the back of the LCD screen has become dislodged. It would be worth checking that before shelling out for a new screen. Just a thought 🙂
Good luck and let us know how you get on.
