ParticipantSnow_Owl – If you go to Control Panel > Device Manager and look under Network adapters you should see your installed wireless network adapter identified.
Hope this helps

Tried that and unfortunately it made no difference :o(H is now doing something with the Atheros drivers
[/quote1266796342]Re-installing the driver may help but it would be better to choose an earlier version than the one the update installed. Also see this thread for more information
Hope this helps

ParticipantSmint – You can use a Windows Restore Point.
Choose a restore point prior to the date you installed the update and your wireless should be restored.
Hope this helps

Thanks jeepers01 – think I’ll reclaim the SRS4 partition on the netbook, and restore if necessary from my external drive. (Must be 3 or 4GB to be had…)[/quote1266792561]Your welcomeThe recovery partition is 6GB for XP machines but I believe it is 10/15GB on Win 7SE models.
You can check this with:
Start > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Storage > Disk ManagementPerhaps you could confirm the Recovery partition size you have 🙂

Participantjez – That’s a very useful link for keeping an eye on the various netbook prices 🙂

Hi,When I use Disk Defragmenter, I see my N110 has 4 partitions:
Win7 (c:)
Data (d:)
Recovery
SystemSome questions:
1. When I use Samsung Recovery Solution 4, can I back up onto the Recovery partition above – I currently do it on an external drive?[/quote1266791291]You can use the SRS4 external drive backup to replace the files in the Recovery partition. That way you can return the machine to your latest backup with F4 at boot rather than the machine initial status.
Detail in this thread and hereQuote:2. Or, because I back up onto an external drive, can I ‘reclaim’ the space of the Recovery partition?Yes you can remove the partition and reclaim the space by increasing the size of another partition.
Quote:3. What’s on the system partition? The Win7 Starter the machine came with? It’s the Windows hidden /recovery /system Reserved Partition normally 100MB.
Quote:4. If my machine goes SERIOUSLY t*ts-up, how do I access the Home Premium upgrade I installed? Do I have to involve the ‘System’ partition, and then reapply the upgrade..?Keeping reliable backups would probably be the best answer and or see 1. above.
Hope this helps

Participantpodge018 – Welcome to the forum
Check the microphone settings, it may be caused by feedback?
Have you tried re-installing the audio drivers?
Does it exhibit the problem when listening with headphones?
It may well be a hardware fault which would be handled by Samsung under warranty.
Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.

Participantlypse – Welcome to the forum
It is a wise move to back up the contents of your hdd since Samsung do not provide the OS on media, only providing the Recovery partition on the hdd as a means to re-install the operating system.
To back up the complete system with the application Samsung Recovery Solution 4 will take 1 to 2 DVD-R’s. A word of advice is to not delete the Recovery partition when installing Win 7 Pro since SRS4 will not allow the re-install of the backup if the Recovery partition is missing.
It may be more reliable to make another backup with software such as Acronis True Image as IMHO you can never have enough backups and you never know if they are going to work until you need them 🙂
Hope this helps

Participantflashinglights – When DriverMax is run it scans all your installed drivers and then checks the versions against it’s database. It will then highlight any drivers that it finds later versions of and offers them for download. The free version of DriverMax limits the number of downloads per day so it is easier to make a note of the new drivers and go get them from the Samsung Download site.
If you want to continue using Samsung Update Plus my advice would be to disable automatic download and install since I find it is better to choose which drivers to install. A number of users on the forum have complained that it will change drivers and then they find that the wireless fails to work, for example. This then results in a windows restore point roll back being necessary to get the wireless functioning again, ie. undoing the driver installs.
My moto is if it ain’t broke don’t fix it and I rarely change drivers for the simple reason that if the machine is working well there is no point in updating drivers unless there is a known benefit by installing an update.
Hope this helps

Participantflashinglights – I had to re-size the images as the max size is 550px else the web page formatting gets affected. Hope you don’t mind.
You could get rid of Sammsung Update Plus as it’s unreliable and use DriverMax.com instead to identify updated drivers and then download the required ones for the Samsung Download site.
You may also not need the Oberion Media items if you are not using them.
Microsoft Works is similar to MS Office and is probably not required if you are using Office.
You could replace Adobe with Foxit if you wished as it is more compact
Hope this helps

jeepers01, just how do you (alfihar.tonytb and tcmuffin) keep track of the various posts? Strictly “search” or a database? An inquiring mind is interested in your answer! It’s hard enough keeping track of birthdays, anniversaries, etc for friends and families!![/quote1266772707]The main thing is remembering the topic has come up before which aids searching for the correct terms. Also coupled with using the forum tracking threads option and keeping bookmarks seems to help 🙂February 21, 2010 at 2:20 pm in reply to: N10 – Win7 – Serious Partition Problems – Please help, sniff #210953jeepers01
ParticipantStrider – Interesting problem, glad it is resolved
Another way of achieving the hiding of the partition would either be with Eausus or using Diskpart.
select disk 0
list partition
select partition 1 (number identified by list partition)
remove letter=D (drive letter assigned to 100MB partition)
set id=27 override (to hide the partition)Hope this helps someone with a similar problem

ParticipantEasyUser – No problem you are welcome
No need to apologise, with 46,552 posts in 5,931 threads no wonder it is getting more difficult to find things 🙂
