ParticipantSammysgrl – We have 2 x NC10’s and I bought a Kingston
KVR667D2S5/2G for each of them many months ago and both machines are running fine, no problems.
The spec is
# Kingston RAM memory – 2 GB – SO DIMM 2oo-pin – DDR2
# Storage Capacity: 2GB
# Technology: DDR II SDRAM
# Form Factor: SO DIMM 200-pin
# Memory Speed: 667 MHz800Mhz ram to the same spec will also work fine and there are several alternative good manufacturers to choose from. Crucial being reputable but some users have had problems identifying the Crucial part number in the past so if you choose to go with Crucial they have a diagnostic utility on their web site which will help with identification process.
Hope this helps

I have tried everything. The programs see the printer but gives an error message if you want to print.Very frustrating. I am considering doing a backup and installing Windows 7.
[/quote1266952985]Have you checked that the firewall is not blocking the connection to the network printer?jeepers01
Participantnick11 – Welcome to the forum
I hedged my bets by dual booting XP/Win 7 last October and found that Win 7 runs well on the sammy so I have stuck with it and like it.
I’d be interested to know what ‘bloatware’ is included on the N220.

Participantmarkevans135 – Make sure the connection pins are clean and seating correctly but if the voltage has gone below the threshold it may not come back and accept a charge.
An off the wall idea is put it in the fridge for a few hours and then try again. Keep it sealed in a plastic bag to avoid moisture. You never know 🙂
Hope this helps

Participantpoopenfol – Welcome to the forum
Have you recently been using an external drive with the machine? If so it might not have been closed properly. Try connecting it again and use the “Safely remove hardware icon” to eject it.
Hope this helps

Participantsoundssupreme – The lid switch prevents the netbook power button from operating. AFAIK there is no software method of overriding this feature which is no doubt provided to prevent accidentally switching on the netbook when it is being transported for example.
The secret bios feature was removed by Samsung in later bios releases.
Hope this helps

[quote1266879862=jeepers01]Was this 07?
If you have forgotten no doubt Alfihar can provide this information.[/quote1266879862]
The 100MB partition should be of type 07.
[/quote1266880217]Thanks for the info. That indicates your 100MB partition running unhidden?

Thanks again for your detailed reply. Oddly before I hid the 100mb partition it showed it as being a system partition and when i used the set id commands it changed it to an OEM recovery partition.[/quote1266879067]Your welcomeWhat was the partition number of the 100MB partition before it was changed? Assuming it is now 27.
I was rather hoping you would have posted the results from detail partition. Was this 07?
If you have forgotten no doubt Alfihar can provide this information.Quote:BTW I am using SRSIII upgrade – i loaded srs4 onto my sammy and on parts of the program it states srs4 and on others srslllYes it’s odd the way it does that. On mine it even mentions ‘Upgrade’ 🙂
Quote:The SRSlll admin harddisk view states that the recovery partition is Z, but doesn’t show in Windows. In ‘detail partition’ is the partition shown as Hidden with no drive letter assigned?
Quote:Oddly my volume for the recovery partition is 2 whereas yours is 0, why is that. The volume table will be different to my machine since i do not have the 100MB partition.
You can check the volume table with the diskpart command ‘list volume’Hope this helps
February 22, 2010 at 10:33 pm in reply to: How to replace Windows XP with Windows 7 on the Restore Partition #208117jeepers01
Participant__spc__ – You need only to make a backup with the SRS4 application (not F4 at boot) and copy the init.woo, init.wcl, init.w01 files, as shown in FastLaneJB’s post, into the recovery partition replacing the same named files there. Keep the files named as they were on the Recovery partition as if you change the names F4 will/probably not work.
Also do not remove any files as these are the Winclon software files and data that Samsung uses.
When the exercise is finished test the F4 function to check it is working. ie. you see the restore options correctly.
I remember reading a while back in another posting that you used the MBRfix.exe app so that being the case the F4 will not work. Use the Admin Tool and ‘Fix MBR’ option to correct if required. Details at the end of this thread if you need them.
Hope this helps
ps In you other current thread you wish to remove the Recovery partition?

Participant__spc__ – Before you remove the Recovery partition and reclaim the space by re-sizing another partition make sure you back up the data from the Recovery partition. This will not be the D: drive you refer to as it will be the drive letter you assign to it when the partition is unhidden.
Your best bet IMHO is to take a disk image of the entire disk before proceeding to be on the safe side 🙂
Hope this helps

Participantmattyj – It does sound as though the battery or charging circuit is faulty.
If it has just come back from repair then it may be best to inform Samsung.
Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.

Participantlisek – You could try installing DriverMax.com as it will identify all the drivers including chipset versions.
It will present the information in a concise html page for easy reading 🙂
Hope this helps

ParticipantSnow_Owl – AFAIK you should have a Realtek 8192 wifi card fitted.
Try installing the Realtek driver and see if it is accepted.Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.

ParticipantStrider – To remove the drive letter (Z) and hide the Recovery partition try as follows:
diskpart
select disk 0
list partition
select partition 1 (number of the Recovery partition identified by list partition)
remove letter=Z (drive letter assigned to Recovery partition)
detail partition (Will show partition type as 07 ie. unhidden)
set id=27 override (to hide the partition)
detail partition (should show partition type as 27)see example screen below:
You can also check the Windows 100MB partition
diskpart
select disk 0
list partition
select partition 1 (number of the Windows partition identified by list partition)
detail partitionSee what partition type number it returns. If it is 07 then you could proceed as above to hide it, but it depends on the number it returns. Perhaps you could post the results from detail partition.
That said if Windows is running well there may be no point in disturbing it and the question mark may be normal for the software you are using to check it. Are you using SRSIII or 4?
I don’t have the 100MB partition on my dual boot XP/Win 7HP install so I can’t check this first hand.
Hope this helps

Participantbokka1 – Welcome to the forum
Not sure why OpenOffice should be a problem but have you got the latest updates and service pack installed for Word? There may well be an update available for OpenOffice, worth checking.
Are both programs seeing the printer driver in the application?
Try shortening the shared printer file name and use underscore instead of spaces.
Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.
