Participant[quote1267202465=monkeyhead]Hi thanks for that I rolled back to that driver but still no joy. I’ve already got the easy display manager running because my other fn keys work eg britness, volume etc.
Many thanks for your help so far.[/quote1267202465]It would be worth checking that Wireless Device Control is set to [Always On] in the bios Boot menu.
If it is set to [Always Off] then this would explain why [Fn]+[F9] is not working.
Hope this helps

Yes that’s what I was thinking … I also visited that site but they don’t have anythin for N210 or similar models. I don’t know which else should be compatible too
[/quote1267192353]I doubt if other bios’s are compatible if that is what you mean and would not recommend trying 🙂We need to find a similar web site listing the later model bios details – if it exists.
Quote:completely wipped the HDD installed grub2, win 7 ultimate and backtrack 4 final (linux)Just a thought – You may have better luck installing Win 7 first before installing Backtrack4.
Hope this helps

ParticipantMatias – Samsung don’t issue much information about bios updates unfortunately.
This is the best list I know of.
Hope it helps

Thank you. Sorry for the Delayed response, I appreciate the help. I created the 3 recovery DVDs. Now how do I get the system to boot into from my windows xp cd, which i have in an external dvdr drive? Its listed under the boot devices and I have it first, but I never get that “hit Any key to continue” prompt when its booting, to boot from the CD. I have the USB DVDr drive listed as first in the boot order. Let me know. Thanks!
[/quote1267133598]Connect your DVD drive to the right hand USB port. That works on the NC10 as only one port is bootable from with USB sticks so try each port on the N210 to establish which one will boot the machine.Hope this helps

If your function keys are not working you need to install Samsung Easy Display Manager.
Try the Atheros 8.0.0.225 driver, I have found it reliable on my NC10 under Win 7
Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.

Perfect!“remove letter=Z (where Z is the drive letter you assigned to Recovery partition)” was the key bit.
Thanks again.

Participantmike1202 – Your welcome, let us know how the installation goes if you have time.

ParticipantNeal Frost – The NC10 normally runs quite smoothly.
A few suggestions:
As __spc__ says, change the anti-virus if McAfee is still installed. Microsoft Security Essentials is good and free, as are Avast and AVG. If you are uninstalling McAfee use the removal tool after to complete the removal process.
If you are running the original IE browser try Firefox or Google Chrome as alternatives.
Run Task Manager and check the CPU usage which should not be maxing out at 100%.
Run Ccleaner and Auslogics Disk Defrag, both free.
Check the start up processes; this can be done with Ccleaner or Start > Run > msconfig. If you are on wireless (or network cable connection) run a speed check to make sure you are getting the throughput you should from your connection. Try speedtest.bbmax or run the bbc iplayer diagnostics which is very good.
If you are getting poor results it may be time to consider an alternative Atheros driver.Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.

This is becoming a fairly common problem for a number of users recently. The best option is to disable automatic updates installation and install manually the drivers that are required. Generally with wireless drivers once a good reliable driver has been found it is best to stick with it IMHO.
Try rolling back to an earlier Windows Restore Point before the update was installed. A full system restore should not be necessary.
Else download an earlier version of the driver from the Samsung Download site (on another pc) and install that.
Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.

“Lets make the drive invisable again. So go into Storage Manager first and remove the drive letter. Now load the Command Prompt as an administrator and type in the following
diskpart
select disk 0
select partition 1
set id 27 override
exit”This did NOT hide my drive…
My recovery partition is still visible under Windows Explorer, with the drive letter I assigned it; under Computer Management, it does not have a drive letter.
How do I hide my recovery partition?
[/quote1267050144]To remove the drive letter and hide the Recovery partition try as follows:diskpart
select disk 0
list partition
select partition 1 (number of the Recovery partition identified by list partition)
remove letter=Z (where Z is the drive letter you assigned to Recovery partition)
detail partition (Will show partition type as 07 ie. unhidden)
set id=27 override (to hide the partition)
detail partition (should show partition type as 27)see example screen below:
Hope this helps

In the first instance it would be best to refer the matter to the retailer/seller.
There are details in this thread which may assist.
Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.
