MemberThis probably isn’t the case, but just to check, do you have Bluetooth services running?
run msconfig.exe and see if you have any bluetooth services listed and ticked in the services tab.
run services.msc and see if you have any bluetooth services listed and running.I seem to have two under each.
Dunno if these would be there or not if it can’t detect the hardware, but maybe the hardware can’t be detected if the services aren’t running. Not sure which way around it works, but its a quick check.

Membernimesh123456789,
If you just want to play DVDs and change the background, you can do this free of charge on W7-starter. At least to try it first and see how you get on.
Background – oceanis recomended by some users of this forum.
DVD play – VLC or another free media player. If thats all you want to try for now, then the above are at least worth a shot first.
re any possible other tweaks, see this
And there are plenty of other freebies like truecrypt for encryption etc
Hope some of that helps

Membergood news.
strange problem/fix though?

MemberIt could be the NIC has failed, I guess its possible. Is the cable a def good one? have you tried another cable?
A quick google gives a few links – http://www.google.co.uk/search?client=opera&rls=en&q=%22network+cable+is+unplugged%22+even+though+a+network+cable+is+plugged+in&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
A couple of suggestions seem to be a complete power down and battery removal, i.e:
1.) Shut dowm your PC.
2.) Unplug the power cord.
3.) If you have a laptop, remove the battery as well.
4.) Walk away from the problem for at least 30 minutes.
5.) When you return, reconnect battery and power cord.
5.) Start as usual.or setting the speed on the link as opposed to auto configuration, i.e. along the lines of:
Open device manager
-Right-click My Computer and select Properties.
-System Properties window should open, click on the Device Manager button under the Hardware tab.Device Manager should now be open.
-Find the controller under the Network Adapters.
-Double click the controller to open its properties window.
-click on the Advanced tab (This is where you can change the speed and duplex settings).
-Select Speed & Duplex on the left side of the window (you should see its current setting (Auto)towards the right side of the window on the Value drop-down).
– Click on the drop-down and select a setting other than Auto (Try fastest and then slowest) and then click OK to close the window.Hope one or other may help, if not post back.
Maybe it may be worth double checking this first, but what about removing the NIC from device manager (delete/remove it) and reboot. I believe Windows should then redetect and reinstall it.

MemberI finally got a reply from Samsung support.
They advise that I download and install Flash Player 8 !!!! (yes, I kid you not, 8 )
And this will fix the problem.Needless to say, I’ve queried this little gem.

MemberI like these kind of games. I may try and load my disc of AOE-II for the complete game and see if it works (now I have my CD/DVD drive).
I’ve never tried Command and Conquer, but there appears to be a free demo here – http://download.cnet.com/Command-Conquer-demo/3000-7562_4-10229099.html (I’ve not tried it) but it doesnt mention W7 so you may need to play with compatibility mode etc, and I couldn’t see how to download it ???
Also, is this it – http://www.fileplanet.com/180462/180000/fileinfo/Command-&-Conquer-Gold-(Full-Game—GDI-ISO) claims to be a full game free?
Not tried either, so dont know if they run OK or not, and as usual AV check, just in case.
PS – this list says ‘tiberian sun’ runs on a N110, and that demo appears to be here
As I say, I’ve not tried any.

Memberreem,
just a wild shot in the dark, not having used either program, but does your N130 have a small ‘hole’ microphone right next to the touchpad as my N220 does?
If so, try disabling it and use an external microphone via the ‘mic in’ socket (which I think it has).

MemberPhiilip,
thanks for that. I had emailed Samsung but as yet received no reply, so I had just emailed again earlier today.
perhaps the old guide(s) is now out of date and they have been updated.
Thanks

MemberAJontheroad, welcome to the forum.
I think you want to turn ‘tapping’ off. Borrowed from a previous post by ‘ __spc__ ‘ – for W7 it looks like this – http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af211/__spc__/sammynetbook/tap.jpg
Goto control panel, mouse, device settings, settings, and try disabling Tapping.

Memberdaevo,
No need to worry about the ‘exasperated thread’, I’d have said. We’ve nearly all been there 🙂
The CPU and Memory seem fine, I was hoping something would be V high and give a clue as to whats causing the issue.
I’m not familiar with this model, does it come with XP or W7?
As it plays streamed stuff OK, just a thought, what media/MP3 player are you trying? Have you tried another one? Something like VLC maybe, just to see if thats any different.
seem to vary with temperature
– may be worthy of further investigation. Is it over heating? Is the fan running correctly? For temp something like this may be. I’ve not downloaded or used this myself, but have seen it mentioned on this forum. Check your CPU is one of the supported CPUs (I guess it will be), and as usual AV check before running.
EDIT – just an extra thought. Do you have an SD card? Copy some MP3s to that, do they play OK? i.e. is it a poor HD speed problem (for some reason). Run a chkdsk and defrag are they all OK? Download something like SiSoft Sandra (the trial version is free) and run a disk speed test.

MemberDell.bhoy,
Something similar can happen if the ‘Num Lock’ is on. On my N220 thats
check the ‘num lock’ is off.

Membermil1erman,
re bluetooth (sorry I missed that earlier) if you want/need it and cant cancel the order, then have a look at these:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/USB-Bluetooth-Converter-Windows-Enabled/dp/B003ULAH22/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1291752986&sr=1-4
or
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001BROKXO/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=103612307&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0000DG4VA&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=0AAH7TGN2WK22EK80VND
or
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Daffodil-06M-Micro-Bluetooth-Dongle/dp/B001MG8QH0/ref=pd_cp_computers_1these are examples, there are others around, just make sure its compatible with the OS. Plug ’em in when you need bluetooth and remove when you don’t. Not quite as convenient as having it built in, but not far behind.
