October 22, 2009 at 12:43 pm in reply to: Issues with Samsung 24" Monitor (2433BW) and the NC10 #203929Fifi
MemberHi I just got a new Samsung Monitor a 23″ not sure the model number, it’s great I love it. I got my pc upgraded with dual port graphics card that has DVI so I’m using a DVI cable, it looks nice. Not tried to connect it to my NC10 though. I’m asumming that as NC10 only has VGA out then that’s it VGA out = VGA in to monitor but I don’t know enough to be sure.

MemberUsing Vodaphone dongle, plug in and a few clicks on what comes up to install and it was fine. Don’t use it much though and the coverage isn’t great but it’s the cheapest PAYG with no expiry on your top up (unless you leave it something like 6 months with no use at all).
Would like to have an Orange one for the coverage but that £5 a month goes up to £10 after the first three months, which I suppose isn’t bad but not worth it for my small usage.

MemberHi welcome, sorry I don’t know but I’m sure someone on here will. I have a cheap Disgo version of that type of thing with just basic resolution, that works fine, I just take the SD card out and put into my NC10 slot to download. Have had no problem with high res stills from my best digital camera.
The Disgo is great for capturing stuff as you go but only average quaility for movies and bad quality for stills, the price though means I’m not scared to strap it to my bike, or hold it on a rollercoaster. It doesn’t have any brackets though so it’s just experiment with gaffer tape. And its not rechargeable. You can buy specific cams that have brackets/clips for helmets, handlebars etc. but not seen HD ones yet. Don’t get the really cheap disgo with no stills though as the screen is too big so it gobbles batteries. If I had enough money I might have gone for the flip.
It’s quite addictive once you start your own mini adventure movies lol

MemberThank you everyone, the PC is installed and working fine my sister is happy. The only thing she hasn’t managed yet is to download flash player, she gets an error. This pc is similar spec to my desktop and I can use flash player fine. Any advice appreciated.

MemberI had the same problem with mine shadowtowel, I eventually (very carefully) used a small screwdriver to prise it out. After the first couple of times it works itself a tad looser and gets easier. At first I couldn’t even find it as it was so tight lol

MemberAll done and bought my sister is very pleased with it and all working fine, reasonably good internet speed. The old monitor isn’t that good but it works, the one pin missing on the cable seems to affect the display of red colours. The cable isn’t replaceable as it goes straight into monitor. But she is happy and can replace monitor later on once she saves up some more money to maybe get a flat screen one.
Thanks to everyone for their help.

MemberI’ve recently been experimenting with this as I wanted to watch something from the ITV equivalent of iplayer.
My TV has VGA connection so I did that and yes also needed to run an audio cable from the headphone socket to the surround sound amp.
I also needed to go into the settings on the TV to made it fill up the whole screen.
It all worked. I have NC10.

MemberThanks everyone, decided to get her the £70 one with the 1GB RAM it’s an IBM one and having upgrade so she can write CD’s for not too much. My main desktop is XP and I had RAM upgraded to 1GB a while back and am happy with the speed.
Yes the router and PC are in the same room thanks. Decided this cheapest option and not laptop/netbook, she won’t be wanting to take it anywhere but thanks for the suggestion.
Me and Mum are paying some of it as her Christmas presie 🙂

MemberPS there’s one for £50 and another with 1GB Ram and more HDD for only £20 more, does that sound the one to go for, it’s the same apart from that?
