MemberThis is the panel I ordered, although they couldn’t get stock of the Glossy and so I got a Matte. I actually would have preferred to get Matte from the start, but they only had the glossy listed.
This could possibly be the model I got, although the page has a few conflicting pieces of info.
Hope I’ve helped!

MemberFred, I can tell you that the LCD Panel used in the HP Mini 5101 will fit into an N210 – same connection, you just need to adjust cable positioning behind the panel itself. I did this to mine before the NF310 was released, and I much prefer it now!
The hardest thing I found was finding an appropriate screwdriver for some of the screws behind the bezel – not very hard at all.
Hope this helps

MemberI’ve used Mint 9, 10 and currently trialing Mint Debian. My only reason for not using it primarily at the minute is that to get an encrypted LVM installation is a bit of a play around with it – I would be using it for work, and as such it would contain sensitive data, hence the encryption. I’m seriously hoping that with the release in December of V2 of LMDE that they include LVM as an installation option, in which case it would be goodbye Ubuntu

MemberGlen, just wondering how the FN (brightness etc) controls are on the NF210 under Mint and if they work- I know that on my N210 I had to install a few programs from the Linux On My Samsung PPA to get them all working correctly and was just wondering how the newer models go. And whilst I’m not sure about the panels used in the NF210, I can tell you that in the N210 I was able to swap out the 1024×600 panel with a 1366×768 panel from a HP Mini 5101 (I just had to re-route some cableing behind the panel, no biggy). From what I understand, this would then give you pretty close to a NF310, but with the larger battery size.

MemberWayne, When it comes to alternatives what are your constraints? Myself I got tired of waiting for the NF310 in Australia, and no-one would respond to my inquiries, so I purchased an almost new Lenovo X200s for a bit more than the price of the Sammy. Whilst I love my x200s, and my Sammy N210, I was very disappointed by the lack of interest by any sales team in Australia in regards to the NF series.

MemberThere’s always the option of swapping out the LCD panel for a HD one yourself. I’ve just found out that the N210 panel is nigh on the same as the HD panel used in the HP mini 5101/2/3, and have one in mine now. Makes it so much easier to use!

MemberWell, got my replacement screen today and have just replaced it. Works like a charm. So I now have an N210 with a HD display!

MemberI thought that this might be of some interest to people here – I spotted it this morning on my regular site checks – http://liliputing.com/2010/10/samsung-launches-nf310-dual-core-netbook-with-hd-display.html
That being said, as I received absolutely no responses from any of the companies that I contacted about availability, I have since ordered a Thinkpad x200s for AUD$800. Still keeping my N210 though, I love that thing!

MemberI should receive it this week. I’m definitely chomping at the bit
–EDIT–
Just received notification that my LCD has been dispatched, I’d love to get it tomorrow (Friday), but knowing my luck it’ll probably be Monday. Oh well, shall be fun when it does get here!

MemberAfter just having a quick look around online (via http://www.staticice.com.au) I have noticed that the NF310 is now available for preorder in Australia (from http://www.penta.com.au and http://www.techbuy.com.au ). I have rung Penta already, and they don’t have an ETA on the new netbook, have emailed Techbuy and am waiting on their response. As soon as I know, I shall update this post.

MemberPat-W, it’s unlikely that the NF310 will have HDMI, as it’s only going to have the standard intel 3150 gpu.

MemberWell, don’t know if anyone else actually tried this or not, but I have just splashed out on a 10.1″ 1366×768 LCD (originally for a HP mini 5101). Only just paid for it, might get it before the weekend if I’m lucky (but I doubt it). Will update and take pics of progress when it arrives, and whether I need to get any cable adapters or anything of the sort. One downer is that it is a glossy screen, so I might even get some ClearCal anti glare film and treat the screen, but I’ll see.
–EDIT–
Just heard from the company that the screen is temporarily out of stock, should be about 1 1/2 weeks til I get it ….. bummer, but will be fun when I do!
–EDIT–
Another phonecall from LCD Panels today, asking me whether I would consider taking a matte display over a glossy, as they are having trouble sourcing glossy. As Matte wasn’t even an option when I ordered it, I was stoked! Has all been ordered, should be arriving in a little over a week.

MemberFred, to alter the screen brightness you need to install the Samsung-Tools and Samsung-Backlight (I think that’s the right names anyway) for the Voria repository ( sudo add-apt-repository ppa:voria/ppa). There are other workarounds, but this is the easiest and best implementation that I’ve seen at the minute.
