MemberI can’t remember having to set up or install anything when the PC was set up, but it was a very long time ago. I will search the web to see if I can find an answer.
Thanks Jeepers01. I will have a look on the Virgin site, but I couldn’t find anything last time I looked.dragon
MemberSeems like the culprit is Skype. It stated going slow after she installed it again and ok after she then uninstalled it.
I will get her to load it only when she needs it in future as I suspect it is running on startup when she installs it normally.dragon
MemberYes that is what she is doing. So far so good.

MemberMany thanks, again, RachaelB.
She restored it back to the original settings and it is now really fast. She will have to install many of the updates, but at least she can do them at her own pace and should notice if one of them causes a problem. I am still not sure what the problem is, but maybe one updated driver too many.So thanks RachaelB, and everyone else who read my comments. The problem has been resolved – for now.

MemberMany thanks RachaelB. I am signing off for the weekend now, but I will pass on all your good advice.

MemberThanks, I assume she will have some info on how to complete the system restore. Off hand do you know if it is a simple option somewhere?

MemberMany thanks RachaelB.
She is using IE8 on the N110. I know this as I went through the windows upgrades when I saw her a couple of weeks ago.
I assume she went through the same process with the NNC10 and it is IE8?
Personally I use firefox on my desktop and yes I would use that, but she uses IE in work and doesn’t want to change.I would look at the processes etc if I had it, but I won’t see her for a couple of weeks so it is difficult to go through everything on the phone.
I have suggested maybe she should take it back to her local store and ask them – or just take it back.dragon
MemberBoth the N110 and NC10 are new, couple of weeks old.
Maybe she should just take the N110 back to the shop (currys)?dragon
MemberWow, thanks for the quick reply.
She only uses it for web browsing and she says when she types something in e.g. hotmail she actually has to wait while the actual letters show up.
As I say she tried an NC10 using the same wifi connection works fine.dragon
MemberMy sister has just bought an N110 and says it is really, really slow – she just uses it for Web browsing.
She also just bought a NC10 for my mum and said it works 1000% faster.
both are using the same WiFi connection.Any ideas on what it could be.
The ‘Atheros driver. 7.6.1.160’ driver is mentioned above, could this be the problem? If so how would she go about rolling back to the older version.
Or is there anything else worth looking at?
The N110 came with 3 months free virus protection does the NC10? But anyway I wouldn’t think it was that as it is too slow for that to be the issue.
Thanks. -
