MemberAnd I found that after formatting the machine and installing a fresh Windows 7 Home Premium, it runs faster and smoother.
Even after deleting all the bloatware from Windows Starter, I could still feel it choking for some reason, Who know what other hidden junk they had alive behind the scene. Nothing better a fresh, clean install of windows and you know exactly what is in there.
BTW, if you decide to format and install windows, you will need to download all Samsung drivers/programs beforehand to re-install after formatting.
If you prefer to stay with Windows 7 Starter, then do as “bobbo” said above, remove all junkware the run CCLeaner to rid the registery of any remnants..
Good luck..Canuck
MemberUpdate:
Bought and installed the Kingston RAM: KVR800D2S5/2G
Works fine and made applications open and close faster. Video playback improved too. Before I buy it, I checked the Kingston datasheet against the Samsung one and they were identical. here are the links:

MemberAnother update:
I picked up this RAM :
http://www.mushkin.com/Memory/Essentials/991577.aspxand installed it, for some reason, I felt the machine a bit more sluggish than it was with the original factory Samsung 1GB.
It could have just been in my head, but I felt it slower and when I tried to open a video with the 2GB installed, it hesitated and gave some audible clicks that I have not experienced with the original 1GB.Seems strange because the 2GB stick had a 5-5-5-18 timing while the original 1GB stick had 6-6-6-12 timing. I am assuming the -5 timing is faster than the -6 timing, but performance-wise it felt slower.
Anyway, I returned it and now on the quest for another type. This time I will try to source an original Samsung stick like this one:

1GB 2Rx16
PC2-6400S 666
M470T2864QZ3I will pick up a 2GB stick on my way back home. Will post an update later on..

….. and you can change the background with a third party wallpaper changer.McAfee is junkware.
Keep easy display manager if you want to use the on screen display hotkeys etc. Also battery life extender, recovery solution, usb charger and power options.
[/quote1267049719]Thanks…
What 3rd party SW do you recommend for wallpaper? Also, is there a screen saver in Windows 7 Starter??Cheers,
