MemberI did try to load both a Debian and Puppy OS system but it only went as far as “Loading Kernnel”

MemberI continue to have same problem on both battery and mains.
– The bios does recognised the HDD correctly
– did a CMOS reset again
– I removed the HDD and installed it in an external case in which I can read all files fine. I reformated to NTFS and installed an new OS while it was in external case. No change
– removed RAM and replaced with another set – no change
– Installed another HDD and attempted to reload new XP Pro from CD. Process went as far a “Setup Starting Windows” and then it stopped.-everything I try seems to get as far as loading windows then stops.

MemberAs it does not want to go pass the initial Windows boot does this mean it is only getting as far as the BIOS hand off and that problem is with CPU or motherboard?
Thanks

MemberThanks,
Tried the CMOS reset and pretty much same results
– Safe boot loads as far as MUP.SYS
– Normal Boot loads as far as Splash screen and stops
– Boot from external CD with recovery disk loads a lot of drivers then stops at “Setup is Starting Windows” -
