I am using tha latest awful version of Live Messenger and do not have your problem. Sound from other caller is perfect through the on-board speakers apart from the usual MSN noises. The only complaint is from the other end because my voice apparently sounds rather “warbly”. it makes no difference whether I am using battery or mains.
My NC10 is bog standard with 1GB RAM. I have adjusted the Realtek mixer to get maximum sound volume as described elsewhere on this forum. But I hardly think that would make the difference.

MemberGood question! I have just unchecked Marvell in MSCONFIG Services (bottom of the list) so that it doesn’t load.
I think a quick trial and error test would be the answer!

MemberCrafty – I am so glad that you started this thread because I suddenly seemed to have exactly the same symptoms and remembered, in the back of my mind, reading your thread.
My unbearably slow start up seemed to come out of the blue and long after I had disabled my LAN (only use wireless) but this was probably because I rarely fully shut down my NC10 and use Hibernate most of the time. Must remember to restart the Marvell Yukon Service if I re-enable the LAN!

MemberI am using a Hercules (£38 from Amazon) to extend the range of my WAG160N. It provides the easiest solution to bad reception around the house but is not perfect. Transfer speeds are supposed to be about half that of the original network but when browsing etc it is not noticeable.

MemberI have spent far too long trying to make the Intel utility save two different schemes for the nc10 screen. It works fine for switching between the nc10 and my separate monitor but it will only save one setting for each screen. I need to use 1024×768 to run Canon DPP and like you, I would like to be able to switch quickly.
There is probably some freeware utility which will do exactly as we want and when I have time I will look for it. I will post again if and when I find the solution.
