MemberHi there,
I’ve recently took the plunge and upgraded to Windows 7 on my Samsung Nc10. It works very smoothly, however the only downside is that my wirless has dissappeared!
I cant even enable it with the FN and 9 keys, I’ve downloaded the most upto date Atheros driver and still no joy. Has anyone else expereienced this issue? If so how did they resolve it?
Many thanks,
Matt

MemberI might have read somewhere that there is a problem with the latest driver…maybe… Try an earlier version? (FYI, my Atheros AR5007EG uses 8.0.0.279, 17/01/2010).

Participantmonkeyhead – Welcome to the forum
If your function keys are not working you need to install Samsung Easy Display Manager.
Try the Atheros 8.0.0.225 driver, I have found it reliable on my NC10 under Win 7
Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.

MemberWelcome to the forum monkeyhead,
I too am using the 8.0.0.279 just now, so there seem to be some choices of working drivers.

Hi thanks for that I rolled back to that driver but still no joy. I’ve already got the easy display manager running because my other fn keys work eg britness, volume etc. Many thanks for your help so far.

If it is set to [Always Off] then this would explain why [Fn]+[F9] is not working.
Hope this helps

Memberclick on the start button and type in ‘device manager’ (without quotes or anything). Open it – does it show any warning icons for the wireless adapter? It would be obvious if there were any problems with the wireless adapter drivers as it will show it – everything else will be collapsed.
Should look like this if all is correct:
If you can’t find the wireless adapter at all under ‘Network Adapters’ and there are no other problems like ‘unknown device’ or something along those lines then as poster above suggested check in the bios to see if it’s enabled.

MemberHi,
Took a look in the bios (v.11CA) and theres no option to enable the wireless also took a look at device manager theres no wireless mentioned. Perhaps my wireless modules died lol?

MemberHi monkeyhead,
jeepers01 will be using the same bios v.11CA as you, which should be where his picture above came from. I think that you ought to see the same thing as he does there. If it is turned off in the bios then that might also explain why it does not show in Device Manager.

Participantmonkeyhead – If you have rolled back the driver then you must have the wireless device listed in Device Manager in order to change the driver? (look under Network Adaptors)
The bios picture is indeed from version 11CA which is needed to get the function keys brightness control working in Win 7 and also general Win 7 support.
If you are now not able to see the wireless option in the boot screen tab of the bios then it does look as though the device is defective and not reporting it’s presence to the bios.
Is your NC10 still under warranty?
Hope this helps
