I’m having this weird problem with my Samsung NC10 the past few weeks.
Sometimes when I turn on my computer the Wireless icon, network & driver have completely disappeared from my computer.
The only solution I have so far is to restart a few times and hope the icon appears on the bottom right.
Other than that I just have to sit tight and wait a day or two or three for it to return.
I never do anything out of the ordinary to make the network disappear. It’s really just pot luck when I turn on my computer. 50% of the time I’m good to go, the other 50% I’m not.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be going on?
pulp163 – The OS sounds like its corrupted. Is everything else is functioning and running properly? If not consider a re-install of the OS.
Hope this helps
Is it possible to reinstall the OS without an external optical drive?
Hi pulp163,
You can install from a USB stick, but you will need access to a machine with an optical drive to transfer the data from the OS disk.
A bit late, but have you tried (assuming Win XP) – Start – Control Panel – Taskbar – bottom right there’s a button marked Customise
Set the WiFi Icons to ALWAYS SHOW…
Windows has a habit of hiding System Tray Icons…
Brian.
Hey Guys,
Still no luck with recovering the wireless adapter. I’ve downloaded the Atheros driver twice and installed but It still doesn’t show up on my Network Connections window.
I’m going to try and reinstall the OS once I can get it onto a USB stick.
Thanks for the help otherwise.
