MemberSo, I’ve had my nc20 for about two months now, and I’ve had this strange problem since the very begin, and I was wondering if anyone could relate or give me a solution. When I physically close my nc20 and put it to sleep (pushing the screen down to the keyboard so the laptop is closed), when I open my nc20 and log back into my account my ability to use wireless disappears. I’ve literally just see the icon vanish on the bottom right of my screen. If I try to go to “connect to” from the start menu it doesn’t even allow me to look at wireless networks, the only thing that comes up are my local area connection. I’ve tried turning on and off the wireless lan from the keyboard, but it also does nothing. Although if I were to simply just put the laptop to sleep and not close the screen I don’t have issues with the wireless, it’s only when I physically close the nc20. I am most definitely not the best with computers so if anyone can offer me help it’d be much appreciated!

MemberMight be a normal XP glitch. Try shutting down the PC first, then when you restart / power on it should start up ok. Coming out of sleep / hibernation may not work perfectly.

MemberHi myvxfreak,
Have you seen this? Is that what you mean, and does it solve your problem?

MemberCouple of things to check:
1) Is your router broadcasting its SSID? If not, turn it on while you work on the problem.
2) Open Control Panel, then Network Connections. Right click on the Wireless Network Adaptor, then click Status. Click the Properties button, then the Wireless Network tab. In the Preferred Networks section, the SSID of your network should be listed and should be the first item if there are more than one. If it’s not listed, click the Add button and add your SSID. Next, select your SSID in the list and click Properties. There should be a check mark in the “Connect even if this network is not broadcasting” box. Finally, click the Connection tab and check that there is also a tick in the “Connect when this network is in range” box. If you make changes at any point, remember to OK them.Normally, these should be the default settings, but it’s worth checking them just in case.
