Would this have any utility for our Netbooks which lack optical drives?

Does the fact that this company is Russian trouble anyone? I ran the zipped download through two anti-virus programs and both said it was OK. Still, anything from Russia gives me pause; so many of hackers based there.
Speed3, a number of prominent bloggers have mentioned and reviewed this piece of software. There is no mention of hidden malware, etc.

If you have access to a machine running Vista, you can do this for free without any 3rd party tools.
From the command line ( run CMD with admin privileges)
diskpart
list disk
select disk x (where x is the number that corresponds to the USB key that you want to use)
clean
create partition primary
select partition 1
active
format fs=fat32
assign
exitremove the USB key and reinsert after a few seconds.
xcopy d:*.* e: /s/e/f (where d: is your DVD drive with Vista and e: is the USB key. Change drive letters accordingly).

There is an alternative method, with full details in this guide below, which is similar to the method posted by j.baker earlier.
I have not tried it but it looks very comprehensive and has received good feedback.
It shows the method of establishing the USB disk number with Diskpart > List Disk to ensure the wrong disk is not cleaned, partitioned and formatted in error! 🙂
