MemberHi:
Is it normal after upgrading to 2 GB of RAM for Control panel, System, General to show 1.99 GB of RAM rather than 2.00 GB?
Thank you.

MemberYes. Some of the memory is used by the onboard video.

Yes. Some of the memory is used by the onboard video.
[/quote1236721700]Er not quite. According to that idea video is only using 10mb but in any case the NC10 does not use system RAM but has 64mb of dedicated video RAM, check out the specs.* Dimensions: 10.3 x 7.3 x 1.2 inches
* Weight: 2.8 pounds
* Display: 10.2″ TFT Display at 1024 x 600 pixels
* Processor: 1.6-GHz Intel Atom N270
* RAM: 1 GB DDR2 RAM
* Chipset: Intel 945 GSE Express
* Integrated Graphics: Intel GMA 950 64 MB VRAM
* Hard Drive: 160 GB HDD, 5400 RPM
* Wireless: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR
* Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Home
* Ports: 3 USB 2.0, Ethernet, Headphone, Microphone, VGA, 3 in 1, SD Card ReaderA reported 1.99 is a nominal number and is of no consequence. Mine shows the same whereas Everest reports 2.038.
Find something better to worry about lol

MemberA bit unnecessary, but: Samsung’s Stats (PDF) for the NC10 say 128 MB Shared and nothing about dedicated.
Intel’s 945/950 chipsets can change the amount of graphics memory in use. (Described here. Also a PDF.) It says the default allocation is either 1 or 8 MB, and even if the driver takes more memory only that initial 1 or 8 MB is removed from what the OS reports. Thus, 1.99 GB. :)
You are right, though: nothing to worry about.

MemberDedicated RAM on a GMA950? What’s next? Readyboost in my Butt? Awesome!
S.C.N.R. 😉
Back on topic:
The integrated gfx uses some of the RAM as Video RAM.

MemberMy apologies. I Googled for reviews and unfortunately happened to pick on the only one which seems to have got it wrong.

Not worth worrying about still sums it up.

MemberNothing to worry about. Actually, it’s weird since there’s a number of reviews out there with those numbers. Did Samsung send out some units with misleading/incorrect specs or did one reviewer mess it up and the rest copy from each other? The world may never know… :)
