MemberYep it seems that7000 is floating around but there doesn’t seem to be anything different about it.
Do you ever just sit there and wish you had a seedbox?December 28, 2008 at 12:34 am #176135hufn
MemberIt looks like it’s the oficial (ish) release of the beta, but not going to bother changing right now until I need to 😉

[/quote1230425246]Does anyone know when the actual official beta is going to be out? I might haft to jump on the Windows 7 train whenever the official one comes out. I don’t want to jump on the beta too early though because I will be using the machine to take my notes in college so I need it to be fairly stable. Although from what I hear the current betas are already pretty stable.

People are saying it came from msdn and that it wasn’t just given to oem’s / people at tech events this time so you could well be right.December 28, 2008 at 2:30 am #176136hufn
Membersirjak – I’ve heard Jan. is the semi-official release date of the actual beta. Just rumor till it happens though 😉

MemberHello, I have put VIsta on the NC-10 but have had no luck with the camera. Can anyone help me out here ? I will have to check the LAN driver for the Generic Marvell Yukon 88E8040 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller. I use WiFi mostly and had not looked at it.
Thanks
Jason

Brightness function keys (and most of the other important ones) are controlled with Easy Display Manager, so all you have to do is re-install it.
[/quote1230575192]Okay, have you reinstalled it on Win 7? If so, can you link to the version that works? I tried with both the Win XP and Vista versions, but they would not install.

MemberI have reinstalled Win7 ,semi-official beta build 7000, first I did upgrade on the top of 6956, but later had to cut down original image with vLite, as I don’t need media center etc so saved some disk space. Looks more stable, with some trick stopped UAC, but still have gadgets running. Thought WI Rating is only 2.0 (because of HDD), it’s starting up for just 35secs, and wakes up after stand by immediately. All hardware running well, same as before had to install Samsung Easy display manager and LAN drivers.

MemberSo is anyone having any issues at all with Win 7 or is it running just like an RTM build would?

[/quote1230612783]ktb–I included the link in my blog posting that I initially linked to above. I installed the XP version. Please note you have to install it individually–it will not install from the included CD-ROM.
swabes–The only other thing I run besides EDM is the Synaptics touchpad program (and really only for the vertical scroll and palm check feature). I find I don’t really need anything else. I have never had a problem with sound resuming from standby. One thing I did notice is that on build 6956 I had problems going completely into standby while on AC power (it would repeatedly try to sleep and then wake, accessing the disk drive) but worked fine on battery. But it now works perfectly in build 7000, both AC and battery. The only problem I’m having with build 7000 is the Synaptics touchpad program is occasionally freezing up when I use any of the fancy scroll features. I have now turned everything off except the PalmCheck setting, which I really like because I occasionally brush my thumb against the pad while typing. I didn’t notice this problem in the last build but perhaps I hadn’t used it enough while at home (I often use a wireless mouse). Now that I’m on the road for the holidays and using the touchpad more, the freezing issue has popped up.
jarathirteen–Don’t know about Vista but the camera installs automatically in Windows 7. I don’t use any of the Samsung camera software. I haven’t found a way just to test the camera itself in control panel, but if you install Skype or Oovoo and test the camera, it works fine.
siryak–As stated above I have a few issues with the Synaptics touchpad software, but nothing that I can’t get around if I forgo the Synaptics software and just use the generic Microsoft touchpad driver. There are going to be slight differences between builds and so you can never be sure what problems get fixed and what new problems might be inadvertently introduced. This beta is certainly usable but I dual-boot XP so I wouldn’t be lost if I suddenly discovered some new problem while traveling.
Edited to add: I’m now using the Vista Synaptics software and it seems to be working better–no freezes yet. So EDM and Vista version of Synaptics are what I’m currently running and it all seems to be smooth.

MemberWell i am using the Build 7000 for quiet a few days now and i am totaly impressed.
The performance is so much better than running Win Vista !Actually you do not need to install drivers because Sound, LAN, WLAN, GFX … is supported by Win 7.
If you want to you can install touchpad drivers to use vertical scrolling and display manager to use the function keys. For me the vista drivers from samsung worked.
chekc out (google -> site:samsung.de):
– Touchpad_Driver8.2.5.1
– Easy_Display_Manager_2.1.5.3
– Play_Camera_1.0.1.2Furthermore i was able to install standard software like office.
But I have to admit there is one problem, suddenly i can not open desktop gadgets anymore !?!
Anyone who has quiet similliar problems ?THX 4 Support, Mr.Y

MemberJust a question guys, how did you get windows 7 to boot from a usb pen?
December 31, 2008 at 4:58 am #176169Reset
MemberIf you’re in Vista or Windows 7, these instructions work to boot from a USB flash drive:
http://dotnetwizard.net/vista-stuff/tips-how-to-bootinstall-windows-7vista-from-usb-flashhard-drive/However, the diskpart program is a little different in XP so those instructions won’t be exactly right for XP.
