ParticipantJust thought I’d say that every Samsung netbook with the exception of the NC20 can only run the 32bit version as the Intel Atom N270/N280 processors are 32bit only whereas the NC20 has a Via Nano processor which is 64bit and so can run either the 32bit or 64bit operating systems.
NC20 = 32 or 64bit
All other Samsung Netbooks = 32bit onlyOctober 23, 2009 at 2:38 pm #203795Cosmo
MemberJust got my Win 7 Pro installed on XP Home, no external DVD rom needed. Just download the digital copy (student discount for $30) to the hard drive, back up the file you wanna keep. Install and enjoy. Took me total 2 hours. Running great so far.

ParticipantThats good news, did you have to do anything special to get it to install?

MemberNot really, I downloaded the MS Easy Transfer to back up everything (though I don’t think I wanna reinstall them yet since I don’t need them really). The whole process is actually much easier than people expected. And I actually love a clean installation since there might be capability issue if all the old files were kepts. I does require 7-8 GB extra disc space to save all old XP stuff on the hard drive unde the name “Window Old” in case you wanna roll back to the previous version. And you will find all updated drivers for Win 7 from Samsung’s website, although Win 7 shouldn’t have any problem getting them automatically. My initial impression to Win 7 is that the interface look more like a Mac than previous version of Win, graphic is cool but does require more Ram since I currently only have 1GB, but still running considerably smooth somehow even faster than XP. U really don’t need a DVD or DVD rom to install it. Just download and click run. The only question left would be how to produce a boot up disc should the unthinkable happens. Give it a try, so easy a caveman can do it.

Memberyou can either burn the resulting folder “expandedInstall” or something like that from the exe file… or do what i did, download Windows 7 ISO and just use the legit serial number MS gave.
