Lucius
MemberI have recently received my NF210 (B..E..A..utiful!) and I’ve noticed a few things about Windows 7.This has probably been mentioned but thought I’d make a thread about these limitations in case anyone else gets a surprise like I did..
Two things I have noticed so far:
Cannot change the desktop: this can be rectified Oceanis Change Background W7 software.
Cannot play DVDs: the codecs have been disabled, this can be rectified with VLC media player
If you notice anything and have solutions, please let me know….
Cheers all

MemberHi Lucius, I’ve also installed Oceanis and VLC on my NF310, a perfect solution not to invest money in Win7 upgrades 🙂

MemberI love my Win7 Home Premium upgrade – which runs superbly on my N110 2GB.

MemberTiagofrancisco, welcome to the forum.
Have a read of http://www.sammymobile.com/forum/threads/14626-Microsoft-Windows-7-Anytime-Upgrade-from-Windows-7-Starter and the included links. (You may need to click ‘feature comparison’ on the MS site sub-menu links)
Hope it helps, but If you need any specifics, post back.
or see http://windows.microsoft.com/pt-PT/windows7/products/compare and click ‘Comparação de funcionalidades’ (he says hopefully 🙂 )

Memberthanks for your answer fred232
its seems that version is the basic one and if i want to sync all my data and information with my home pc the win7 starter don’t let me do that am i right?
another question in the Microsoft website said that starter only accept 32bit and not 64bit, what is the difference between 32 and 64bit?
thanks

MemberIt is a basic OS compared to the other W7 versions, the main limitations are:
- Aero Glass, meaning you can only use the “Windows Basic” or other opaque themes. It also means you do not get Taskbar Previews or Aero Peek.
- Personalization features for changing desktop backgrounds, window colors, or sound schemes.
- The ability to switch between users without having to log off.
- Multi-monitor support.
- DVD playback.
- Windows Media Center for watching recorded TV or other media.
- Remote Media Streaming for streaming your music, videos, and recorded TV from your home computer.
- Domain support for business customers.
- XP Mode for those that want the ability to run older Windows XP programs on Windows 7.
TBH, I’m not sure about sync-ing data between systems, I don’t do it, I guess someone will let you know for sure. (It does have sync center in its control panel, so I guess it can ) Anyone?
Have a search on the forum re W7 32bit v 64bit and have a look at this link http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/32-bit-and-64-bit-Windows-frequently-asked-questions There has been some discussions on the forum about if its worth loading 64bit on a netbook or not, some say yes some (most? seem to say) say no. There are issues such as getting the correct 64bit drivers etc to be resolved. Basically, 64 bit will let you access far more ram memory, whereas 32bit is limited to 4G max, about 3.5G in practice. However, it appears that while these netbooks can run a 64bit OS they cannot access more than 2G ram and so, probably the main advantage is lost on them. (this is greatly simplified, have a forum or web search for more detail).
