MemberHi lokiju,
I believe that the N270 and N280 are both 32 bit, so you may be restricted there.
I only have Win 7 Ultimate, not really because I need it though, Home Premium seems to suit most people’s uses fine.

Participant32bit only, it will run both Home Premium or Ultimate fine.
I would only buy Ultimate if you really need the extra features like multiple languages and BitLocker. Otherwise stick with Home Premium.May 3, 2010 at 10:05 am #213111lokiju

Participantlokiju – This Windows 7 editions comparison chart maybe of interest.
I installed the 32bit Home Premium version as I didn’t need the extra facilities offered by the higher versions and I considered that the extra expense was not value for money as I have no need for bitlocker and multiple language support etc. HP runs fine on my NC10 and will no doubt be the same for your N140.
Incidentally the the HP version I got came with both 32bit and 64bit DVD’s in the box.
Hope this helps

MemberHi¡¡¡¡¡
Finally I’ve installed W7 ultimate in my Sammy N140, works fine, but in my opinion it have poor performance than XP it’s slower (any ideas to increase the performance????) I’ve just done the typical actions (clean temporary files, ccleaner in the register file, clean junk files, defrag HD etc)…..
I’ve installed AVG free edition and MBAM for the security, It’s suficient?(ok).
And one question i’ve installed all the samsung software, drivers, and upgrade the Bios, etc. but where is the Battery Manager and Speed up Samsung programs???. They installed ok, but I couldn’t find them
Some ideas please……
Thanks in advance….

Participantlokiju – The Battery Manager only installs a Samsung Optimized power plan which can be selected in Control Panel > Power Options.
For function key support install Samsung Easy Display Manager.
Hope this helps

MemberSorry but I’ve installed Easy display manager ok, but when I push double click on it apparently nothing happens. The installation was ok. what Happen??? Other problem is the speed up program in w7 I don’t know how to run it???
Other big problem from my point of view, it’s the time to run the system (92 sec) and shut down the system (48 sec) its too time??? I’ve tried to improve this time, modifiying the settings and w7 features, but nothing happens, some ideas to improve this marks. it’s possible that W7 ultimate versión it’s not the better versión for our sammy (n140 in my case). I’m worried about this is not the best versón for my n140. Maybe it’s better to downgrade to HP version or other lite versión (but I don’t know what kind of w7 lite version could be fine)
Need new ideas….
Need help…..
Thanks in advance again.

MemberHi lokiju,
Easy display manager will allow use of the function keys, and ought to be already running after booting up, so yes nothing appears to happen when you run it again.
As far as startup goes, have you checked which programs are doing what? For example, is your anti-virus set to run a scan at boot? Or office set to quick start and loading itself ready for use? It may not be the version of windows itself which is slow, but may be some program(s) loading which you might not need.
The three answers you had above before installing Win 7 all suggested Home Premium, yet you installed Ultimate, were there features which you would like to keep from it? If so then changing version would obviously affect that.

MemberHi Tonytb and thank you for your answer….
Easy display manager it’s ok, but what happen with speed up program, the only way to run it, it’s with the hotkeys??? and it have only three mode (silent, normal and speed)???
I’m looking for the programs starting in msconfig , but apparently i have only the programs i need, and the start up and shutting down are to slow in my opinion, starting expends 120 sec and incredible shutting down expends 145 sec¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡., Another recomendation to increase the speed of the shutting down????
I’m still looking for help…..
Thanks in advance
