February 14, 2011 at 7:07 pm #198551JumpSteady MemberI have a N210. I bought it refurbished so it only came with 90 day warranty. It worked fine for 6 months, then white screen. I have opened it up and massaged the cable, unplugged and plugged it back in to both the LCD and the motherboard, still white screen. My next step will be to order a new LCD cable. I hope that fixes the problem. Can anyone advise where I can order a new cable from? I am in US. The cable I need is CN BA39-00931A February 19, 2011 at 4:23 pm #198559jille1304 MemberThanks-may have to try this! February 22, 2011 at 4:45 am #198552JumpSteady MemberI found where to order cable BA39-00931A for samsung netbook model N210. It says it is on nationwide back order, but I ordered it anyway, and after 4 days I received an email that it has shipped with a tracking number. http://www.samsungparts.com/PartsList.aspx?Catalog=Parts_and_Accessories&PartSearch=BA39-00931A February 25, 2011 at 4:30 am #198553JumpSteady MemberReplacing LCD ribbon cable did not fix my problem. Even worse, it won’t plug into the camera part, the plug is different, but it plugs into the LCD and motherboard. I have ordered a replacement LCD screen, hope it fixes it. In retrospect I should have took the cable and screen somewhere and had them tested. February 28, 2011 at 10:13 pm #198554JumpSteady MemberGot my N210 working. I replaced my LCD screen and that fixed it. I had ordered LCD ribbon cable BA39-00931A, they instead shipped me BA39-00949A and although it plugs into motherboard and LCD, the plug is different where it plugs into the camera and won’t go in, I am going to return ribbon cable for refund. I got the LCD screen new off ebay from screenaid for $57.50. It works great and looks identical to orginal with matte finish. Thanks for taking the time to keep us updatedApril 6, 2011 at 9:02 am #198560yodaco Member@outnumbered 89663 wrote: thanks dude.. ive been telling people that if they are prepared to open it up they can fix but nobody listens.. i find it comes and goes for me.. mostly i just wait till i have to open it up again and give all the wires and sockets a good once over, always works for me ;).
if you dont wanna open your machine you can also get around it by using alternate/default windows or linux graphics drivers or simply reducing your brightness.
 but nobody ever listens lol
alternatie drivers will onyl work if they have controll over the brightness functions.. otherwise you can find your self stuck with a white screen 😉April 9, 2011 at 1:22 pm #198503piedwagtail91 Memberthanks outnumbered. mine had a pink screen ,where all the white turned pink. just spent a very stressful 10 mins following your instructions and everything seems to be ok so far. i found that taping the wire onto the lcd so that where it changes from round to flat lined up with the edge of the screen worked best for me.
now to take the battrey out and re assemble, hoping that i have no spare parts afterwards.
if i can do it anyone can !
thanksMay 23, 2011 at 7:42 am #198460deadkenny MemberHad a problem on my NC10 for a long time that’s similar, but it’s not a white screen. It’s just as I move the display the screen jumps or has lines all over. Sometimes it will start doing that when not touched and I have to move it a fraction to get it back. I’ve lived with this for ages but know at some point it will die entirely. I’m not sure it’s going to be solved just by reseating the cable as I bet the cable is gradually breaking inside with movement. What’s the process to replace the NC10 cable and what part do I need? Better still if there’s an illustrated or video guide to doing it :D. I’ve seen things for removing the cover but need more than that, and I’ve seen Outnumbered’s guide. To replace the cable is there much more required? I’m on standby also for my parent’s NC10 which at the moment has no problems but I suspect it will at some point. Or maybe I should recommend they get the extended warranty. May 23, 2011 at 7:56 pm #198500May 24, 2011 at 11:21 pm #198461deadkenny MemberLooks fiddly. Doesn’t actually cover replacing the cable. I’m not convinced just opening and fiddling will fix it, but I could give it a go. First I need a spare PC though as a backup as the netbook is now my last PC. Both my old desktop and my big (old) laptop have had terminal hardware failures. Last thing I want to do is attempt to “fix” the netbook and kill that also. Has anyone set up a relatively cheap fix service, e.g. a company that will do the fix on the cheap instead of at the sky high prices that Samsung are charging out of warranty? May as well buy a new netbook given their charges. Would be better if at least Samsung didn’t spend ages trying to work out what the problem is, and charging for it, when you know what it is already and just want them to fix it. Simple service of “replace LCD cable please” for a fixed price is all that’s needed. July 5, 2011 at 7:49 am #198469Banwell Memberthe hardest part is the disassembly. I struggled with a worn lcd cable for mths. I finally got round to buying a replacement. Surprisingly there are many ebay sellers happy to supply the part. You can even source them from China. In the uk I am paying £17 for next day delivery. I’ve had the machine apart already for a fiddle, and while it seemed to help the issue has eventually returned. July 16, 2011 at 5:21 pm #198561ricklous MemberHi guys, Really useful information in this thread – I used it when my sammy originally went wonky. I’m a bit stuck now though as its gone wrong again. Heres the chronology: the initial fault was one of a missing colour on the LCD when it was sat at certain angles – like an old tv not quite tuned properly, I had the picture but the colours were mixed up. Eventually the error was permanent regardless of the angle of the screen. Thats when i found the forum and followed the guides on purchasing and fitting a new cable. This fixed the problem for a few weeks but then I started getting the white screen, again initially it was only at certain angles but gradually got worse to the point that the only way I could get a picture was squeezing the screen around the area where the cable plugged into the back of it. Numerous attempts to reseat the new cable failed, and now i just get the white screen permanently. My vague feelings are that the original fault was the cable, and that the white screen is possibly down to the amount of faffing i’ve done having sent the LCD south. But I don’t know for sure. So, my question is, has anyone worked out a way of telling if this is the cable or the LCD at fault? If a new LCD fixes the problem I’d be over the moon, but if it doesn’t, then its wasted money and I’m still stuck with a broken netbook. Has anyone found a seller that will accept a return if the LCD doesn’t remedy the problem? July 23, 2011 at 9:15 am #198462deadkenny MemberHas anyone looked into this from a legal point of view? It seems very common and a fault that occurs of this kind within 3 years this makes it not fit for purpose. Under UK laws I’m fairly sure warranty or not this should be covered by basic rights based on the expected lifespan of a typical product of its kind. There was some discussion on the matter in this thread a while back.
