MemberEveryone told me not to do it, don’t do it man, they’ll be fakes or busted. But I didn’t listen, I thought it’ll be OK.
Alas they where right.
I bought 2 Class 6 16GB SDHC cards from fleabay, anyway they turn up today. Great I thought, they really look genuine but wait, what’s this I spy.
A class 10 SDHC card, WoW, I didn’t know they’d advanced the technology so far.
Anyway asked for a refund, waiting for a reply but fully expect to claim through paypal.April 5, 2009 at 9:03 am #188468s162000
MemberSorry to hear of your misfortune. No signs of their treachery in the Ebay feedback?
April 5, 2009 at 9:32 am #188463Britman
MemberNo, a few people saying they never received items and delays in delivery. I can accept that the seller may well have been dooped, they could have bought them in good faith too.

MemberGot this reply from the seller:
Quote:hello, we could directly send you the phone number of PHOTOFAST, we have contacted them for “CLASS 10” issue, they have really produce a number of stock which states class 10 as they declared that the speed of their card reaches the speed of class 10. However the association of SD card do not allowed them to state class 10 on the card as there is no class 10 in the market. SO it is a “limited edition”, We never sell fake cards. You could also contact the international crime investigation or the UK Police. Excellent Card you have got, here is the link that you could directly contact Photofast, http://www.photofast.tw/eng/corporate.htmlthank you.
Sounds like they are passing the buck, I will contact Photofast directly to see if what the seller claims is true.
Although I still have a case against the seller as the list clearly states class 6.April 5, 2009 at 1:44 pm #188465Britman
MemberFreddy,
From wikiQuote:SD Speed Class RatingsSDHC cards have SD Speed Class Ratings defined by the SD Association. The SD Speed Class Ratings specify the following minimum write speeds based on “the best fragmented state where no memory unit is occupied”:[19]
* Class 2: 2 MB/s – 13x
* Class 4: 4 MB/s – 26x
* Class 6: 6 MB/s – 40xSDHC cards will often also advertise a maximum speed (such as 133x or 150x) in addition to this minimum Speed Class Rating. See section speeds above for a further explanation. One critical difference between the Speed Class and the maximum speed ratings is the ability of the host device to query the SD card for the speed class and determine the best location to store data that meets the performance required. “Maximum speed” ratings are quoted by the manufacturers but unverified by any independent evaluation process.

MemberThank you for the explanation of SD-class 🙂 I would suggest you test the SD-card to see what kind of speed it reaches. If fast as Class 6 or higher then just keep it, what the seller says might well be true.
Compare to the speeds of regular RAM, sure there is an official speed rating of DDR 800 but there were long before also speeds that said DDR 1033 (ok, the rating is really called PC2-6400, PC2-8400 etc. but I can never remember what speeds these ratings mean ;)) or much higher even though there was no official speed rating of that sort but well known manufacturers like Corsair etc. used that “rating” and marking anyway.
Forgive me if I’ve misunderstood something – perhaps there is a reason for having Class 6 and nothing else, that I don’t know. But if the “rating” is Class 10 from the manufacturer and that means that it can reach higher speeds – then isn’t that just great?

MemberTrouble with them claiming class 10 is it could mean anything, if the class isn’t official recognised it means nothing.
April 5, 2009 at 3:30 pm #188461Freddy
MemberTry benchmarking the card and see what speed you reach.
“Just because it ain’t official doesn’t mean it ain’t true…” 😉

[/quote1238945796]Have you seen this product page? Looks like your card but no mention of class 10 there, perhaps you do indeed have a class 6 but there was some printing error on the cards. Like Freddy said just do a benchmark to be sure.
April 5, 2009 at 10:52 pm #188462Freddy
MemberWhat kind of speed did the benchmark give?
April 5, 2009 at 11:05 pm #188467Britman
MemberNot got round to doing it yet. I’m going to wait, get a 8GB SDHC back this week, want to test them side by side.
