MemberHi,
My NC10 has developed a problem with loading up webpages. Its been fine for months but now i seem to struggle to load up pages intermittantly, it seems to be ok for the first few pages but then it just hangs and i either have to keep refreshing until it loads or close the broswer and try again. It happens in IE and Firefox too.
Has anyone else suffered from this issue and can offer any advice?
Thanks

MemberHi cmanutd99,
What OS do you have? Does this happen both on battery power and on mains power? Does another PC using the same router behave normally whilst you experience this on your NC10? Is your network card set to turn itself off to save power? Does this occur on all web pages, or just specific ones?

MemberHi, thanks for your reply!
in answe to your questions, my os is win xp, it happens on both battery and mains, my other pc’s seem to be ok so its just on my nc10. It occurrs sporadically on all different websites and not too sure how to check if my network is set to power off, how would i check this?
Thanks

MemberMy Computer – right click -Properties – Device Manager – Network Adapters – Atheros Wireless Network Adapter – Right Click – Properties – Advanced – Power Save Mode – turn OFF
Although it could be an Atheros driver issue. Sometimes Windows update includes a new driver, the idea being that it is better. That is not always the case though.

MemberHi,
Thanks gain for your advice!
My power save mode was set to normal so i have now changed this to off and will see if this now resolves the issue.
My current driver is – Atheros 7.6.1.160Thanks

MemberYou’re not with TalkTalk by any chance are you?
I had his problem when I changed to them, the router settings were not configured properly and seemed to clash with the NC-10 somehow.
I constantly got this hanging on various websites, mainly flash-based ones, but finally found the solution on Google – try searching for “configure MTU router settings”.

ParticipantI agree with jesper, if you are on talktalk then set the MTU=1432 (max transmission unit = 1432 bytes) in the router.
Makes a big difference 🙂

MemberI can remember ages ago having a desktop with this problem. I was with cable (Virgin) at the time and was using their custom PC Guard antivirus software. I tried disabling this and lo and behold – no more web pages hanging.
For my NC10, I have followed the advice of these forums and am using Avira AV software – great, reliable and FREE!
