After googling for 2 hours and not finding the solution, i managed to fix the problem of hal.dll missing or corrupt…
http://myeeeguides.wordpress.com/2008/11/15/winsetupfromusb-install-windows-xp-from-usb-flash-drive/
After the first install, sometimes you get the error of missing hal.dll file. Some people suggest deleting all partitions and it will work…
HERE IS THE ALTERNATIVE… so u don’t have to delete all the partitions…
In WinInstallFromUsb you have to enter the partition number to 2… Since the first partition is some pre-made samsung partition.
Here is the screenshot…
If you already made the usbBoot, you can also change the boot.ini file…
Timeout=5
Default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)Windows
[Operating Systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)Windows=”Second part of XP Professional setup from hd 0 part 1″ /FASTDETECT
SO MODIFY TO:
Timeout=5
Default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(2)Windows
[Operating Systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(2)Windows=”Second part of XP Professional setup from hd 0 part 1″ /FASTDETECT
So the partition number was changed to 2.
You’re welcome… 🙂
Cheers stankoman, definitive useful Googled results are always welcome and useful.
Thank you, stankoman, good stuff 🙂
