MemberHi all – i’m new to the forum but wondered… Does anyone know if the 5900mAh battery from the N110 can be fitted to the NC10?
I was told that the part number is very similar but wondered if anyone had tried this? I would like to get a spare battery for mine anyway and thought that this would be a great way of making an upgrade at the sametime.
They did do the special edition NC10 with the 5900mAh battery though didnt they…

MemberSo does anyone know where the best place to buy the batteries are from? I guess the official Samsung ones are expensive, but the copies can be a bit dodgy…

MemberSo does the 9 cell battery weigh more than both of the 6 cell batteries? i’m trying to keep the weight the same if possible as I travel a lot

MemberHi stub101
The DealExtreme website quotes the weight of the 9-cell battery as 20.88 lb, i.e. 582g. I couldn’t find a source for the weight of the standard 6-cell battery on the web, so I weighed my NC10’s battery and it’s 320g.
For calibration, I’ve also weighed the netbook with its battery and that weighs 1.328 kg compared with Samsung’s quoted weight of 1.33 kg – so my scales seem pretty accurate 😕
Hope that helps.

It just shows that my my expensive education and original profession (research chemist) was not wasted 😉

MemberJayne and Steve hold off on the back-slapping and high-fiveing for a moment. My “scientific math” questions how 20.88 lbs comes out to 582 gms in Jayne’s post!!??? Uh, could it be 20.88 oz?? Math and Chemistry whiz fails equation test! lol. Have a great weekend.
BTW stub101, I am using my 9 cell NC10 battery all the time. I really don’t feel that the added weight is a problem. For your purposes you have to weigh the run time of the 9 cell battery ( and the ability in most cases to leave the mains/ac adapter at home) or the added weight of the 9 call battery. For me, it was the run time. Good luck.

MemberJust as an update…. I recently bought a brand new OEM Samsung N110 battery (5900mAh) to use with my NC10 and unfortunately all was not well!
The N110 battery works fine with the NC10 and does give about an extra 90 mins of usage time for my usage but when I came to charge it I noticed a huge problem.
The standard NC10 charger will not charge the N110 battery whilst in the NC10. The netbook runs off AC no problem but the battery simply does not charge up. The battery charge light flashes green/red – something which I had not seen before!
I tried using my girlfriends N110 charger with the NC10 and that charged it fine so came to the conclusion that the chargers or spec of the battery must be slightly different, and upon closer inspection realised that the battery voltages are slightly different at 11.1V and 11.3V respectively.
So ultimately a standard NC10 and charger will work with the N110 battery, but wont charge it up which seems pretty useless to me – unless you have a N110 charger…

ParticipantThanks stub101 – Useful post, wouldn’t have guessed that.
Any chance of posting a picture of the battery label as it sounds like it’s a topic for a wiki entry.September 1, 2009 at 10:29 am #197414stub101
MemberI hope this helps, as I have to admit that I was very surprised that it did not work….
