I’m very happy with my NC20 except for one thing. I do understand that downloading torrents the broadband speed will slow. When downloading torrents through the NC20 mine seems to be really struggling. It totally cuts off my Broadband connection for everything else. Both Firefox and updating software. I use utorrent. I have a AAO in the house as well but use it for browsing, nothing else. It is really bothering me as I was hoping to rely on the NC20 a little more for most of my needs. Does anyone else seem to be having trouble with their Wireless speeds??? I upgraded my driver from the Samsung website last night but doesn’t seem to be any better. Can anyone help please? I have optimised my utorrent through the many web based guides. Small improvement only, minuscule. I only have 1gb of RAM.
Try limiting the uploak speed to 6k this will allow full download speed whilst not bogging your connection down.
You will want to run a speed test on your connection (with nothing else using the internet), then set the upload and download speed in the torrent client to be a bit lower.
Bitorrent will use up your bandwidth and slow down any other transfers (updates, loading web pages etc…). A solution is to setup the bitorrent client to throttle down during the day (slow download and upload) then run at maximum during the night when no-one else needs to use the internet.
For example I’m on a 4MB connection at the moment, during the day (8 am till 11:30 pm) I limit the speed to 50KB/s down and 8KB/s up. During the night the download speed is uncapped (tends to run at around 450KB/s) and upload is set to 40KB/s. I can override if I need to pull down a patch or distribution quickly.
