MemberJust curious as to what people on here are running speaker/amp wise π
I’ll start it off:
Source unit – NC10 of course
Soundcard – Creative Soundblaster 5.1 external USB
Front left – ΓΒ£7 Trust speakers from Morrisons (lol)
Front right – Built in speakers on my 17″ monitor
Rear speakers – Creative Gigaworks T20 Series II (these are also wired in standalone for the PS2 and VCR on my TV behind)
Subwoofer – pair of Skytronic 902.426 8-inch drivers in a massive 2.65 cu ft box tuned to 32hz with a 4″ diameter, 10″ long tube port in the middle, MDF box construction of course!
Sub amp – Just a 60wrms (total) Technics SU-Z150, I still get 100dB down to 30hz πthat’s all folks!

MemberJust got myself a pair of little Cambridge Audio S30 speakers. Given that the missus has a say (wasn’t like that in the old days ;)!) selection was based on size and colour!
I want to pair them with a mini all in one kind of thing. There’s one that has an SD card slot which would be great for loading on my MP3 collection.
I have a Samsung P3 that I plug into the amp currently, although it comes to work with me too!
I’m not allowed a home cinema system π

MemberLet’s see:
The TV uses a Kenwood VR-615 Home Theater System, which came with a 5.1 speaker set. Sounds fine to me, but I’m not picky. Along with the aforementioned receiver the TV mess includes a computer for playing MP3s, video files, and DVDs (ever since our good DVD player died) along with three game systems (Wii, PS2, and Dreamcast) and the cable w/DVR box.
My main computer has an older Altec Lansing 5.1 computer speaker system that’s messed up at the moment. I’ll probably replace it with a cheap 2.1 system and free up some space.
My NC10, DS, MP3 player, and so on either use their own speakers (if any) or my Sony MDR-Q33 headphones. These clip-ons hang very nicely on my ears and sound good without cutting off what’s going around around me. I love them, even if the audiophiles don’t.
Last but not least, I do have a set of Seinnheiser HD-555 headphones which mostly get used on my main computer. If you want better audio quality and don’t care about portability, they have a good price/performance ratio.

MemberWow guys, I wasn’t expecting so many replies! My system is a bit of a mish mash but I like it and it sounds better than some!
It “sounds” like you’ve got some real nice equipment going on, I just whacked a load of stuff together π

MemberHm, OK. Well I am just one step up from an old gramophone horn. I have my NC10 linked to a Boynq Vase speaker, it’s great

In a review I read it said “Just donΓ’β¬β’t let your mum try to fill it with water! ”
Seriously, is it impressive?

I use Shure SE530 PTH earphones with my computers and iPods and they’re awesome πNovember 4, 2009 at 10:34 pm #204892ThisIs2009
MemberI have a pair of Panasonic full-size headphones which sound great but I only use them in the house so I don’t get funny looks from people! When I’m out and about I currently suffer from the worst JVC clip-on headphones in the world, but they were given to me so its all good lol!

Surely these have to be the dog’s bollocks πNovember 4, 2009 at 10:55 pm #204893ThisIs2009
Memberlol yup π those look like titanium cone, neodymium magnet micro drivers in those dog speakers, meaning that as long as they have acoustic material inside to slow down the speed of sound, they should kick nicely! if not, they’ll just sound all tinny and just look good!

BTW did you notice the Mr Moon in your link? π

MemberHahaha, I know that dog’s noses are often close to that area, look more closely Jayne

My Vase is far better than I actually expected jeepers, it has a downward facing bass speaker which utilises the surface it stands on, and works well. It’s powered by USB so is properly portable too.
Bear in mind that my expectations are not high, I live in an apartment where any volume that I would actually like to hear would have my neighbours out to lynch me in minutes

MemberAt the moment I have my PC with an M-Audio 24/96 PCi soundcard going into a Arcam A28 amplifier.
The speakers I use are B&W 685 I think. They sound nice π
