MemberHi there,
Considering getting a one of the N145 units to do ‘the basics’, but have a query with regards to the maximum resolution that the machine can handle.
There is a piece of software we’d like to use (exam marking software) which has a minimum requirement of 1024×768. This specification of this model (and most other 10.1″ units) is 1024×600. Passing past PC World earlier today, I was able to change the resolution to 1024×768 (with the expected stretching/scrolling) but the actual models escape me now.
Does anyone have any experience of being able to run the N145 in the slightly higher resolution of 1024×768? I also read about the Samsung Easy Display Manager – what does that actually do?
Many thanks,

ParticipantRichHenn – Welcome to the forum.
AFAIK all sammy netbooks are capable of switching to the 1024×768 resolution. This being achieved with the Samsung Easy Resolution Manager software which is listed on the Samsung download site for the N145, so you should be alright for your special software unless it is too processor dependant.
When using the Intel 8.15.10.1912 graphics driver with the Intel 945 chipset it is possible to achieve 1152×864 resolution in Win 7 HP and above. Whether this, or with an alternative suitable driver, is achievable in Win 7 Starter and the N145 needs to be verified by an Starter user as it may possibly be one of the restrictions of Starter and or a limitation of the chipset fitted to the N145.
Samsung Easy Display Manager software controls the function keys and allows cursor keys control of volume and brightness. ie. the ‘blue’ keys in conjunction with the Fn function key.
Hope this helps

MemberHello Jeepers, many thanks for the welcome and then the quick and informative response!
Great stuff – the software isn’t that intensive at all. Basically it downloads a series of PDF-eqsue scanned documents (scanned exam papers) and then the paper is marked/scored and the if needed, the paper can be annotated etc. for reference. The only sticking point was the resolution, but that’s been cleared up.
So, a Samsung N145 Plus has been requested, so we’ll see what Santa brings!
Thanks,

MemberAn you can always plug in an external monitor, where you’ll easily get 1280 x 1024, and even higher…
