MemberHello,
I’m not sure if my last thread actually posted, as I can’t seem to find it anywhere on the forums, so I thought I’d repost it!
So, earlier tonight my Samsung N130 fell from the sofa beside me and now the lcd seems to be broken. I’m hoping (praying) that it’s just a loose connection – if that’s the case and if it won’t void my warranty, I’ll take Sammy apart myself and try to fix it as I need to use Sammy for research for my exams in a few weeks and I’m anxious to get him back to good health!I’ll post a picture of the damage. Any opinions/feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance,
Scott.EDIT: I just realised that the picture makes it seem like the left side of my screen is completely blank – this isn’t the case, I just snapped the picture between the bios and the bootloader!

Participantcleverusername – Welcome to the forum.
This thread has links for repairing the lcd connector if indeed that is your problem.
Hopefully the fall has only jarred the lcd connection and the screen itself is not damaged.
Hope this helps and keep us posted

MemberMany thanks for the reply and the link, jeepers01
Before I go about repairing the LCD, would this void my warranty? I only bought the netbook although I’d prefer to fix it myself, I don’t want to destroy the chances of something unforseen that could happen in the future not being fixed due to me fixing this problem myself.

Participantcleverusername – Opening the netbook would void the warranty technically.
This guide for the NC10 should be of use if you decide to open the N130 up as the procedure is very similar.
Hope this helps

Memberjeepers01 – I can’t thank you enough for the guides, they seem to be very helpful indeed.
I’ve decided to back up my Ubuntu installation and contents of the Windows partition with an external monitor and restore the netbook to its original settings using the recovery partition and try have the shop I bought it in either repair it or have it sent to Samsung for repairs – failing this, I will do it myself using the guides you linked me to.
Thank you again for your replies, it is most definitely very appreciated. I’ll keep the sammynetbook community posted about my progress in case there’s anybody else in the same predicament.

Participantcleverusername – Your welcome, glad it helped.
Hope all goes smoothly for you.
One point to bear in mind if you end up taking the sammy apart is the vulnerablility of the power switch. Some users have reported inadvertently breaking the connecting tongue between the front mounted switch and the motherboard switch assembly when taking the sammy apart so proceed with caution.
Hope this helps and look forward to your future update on the issue.

MemberI brought Sammy back to the shop today and even though they weren’t able to get it fixed themselves (I thought as much anyway), they let me use a phone to call Samsung customer care in Northern Ireland and they’ll be sending out a courier sometime Monday – thanks jeepers01 for all your help and I’ll keep this thread posted with any news I get!
