Hi all, apologies if this has been posted before, I’ve had a search through the posting history of the site and can’t find anything specifically related to this.
My girlfriend owns an N120, which has recently developed an annoying habit (ever since it went in to the repair shop to have its flickering screen replaced). Basically, when the netbook boots on battery power, the backlight doesn’t switch on. Does anybody know if there’s a setting where I can change this? The backlight will switch on if ac is introduced, and will stay on when ac is taken out. The backlight comes on at startup also, if it boots using ac. It seems to be a battery setting somewhere so, but the question is where?
The laptop runs on windows xp.
Any help would be gratefully received! Thanks. 🙂
Welcome to the forum devilman,
If, after checking the power settings (and what you describe does seem odd anyway), it might be worth asking the shop who replaced the screen.
An update on this.
Turns out it wasn’t the backlight. Instead the very lowest brightness setting was incredibly dark (essentially it was like the off setting). So took switched the settings to user-control, from auto in the battery manager and in the BIOS, and everything seems to be well now. It’s still a strange thing to happen, but there you go.
Thanks for the welcome greetings tonytb. 🙂
Cool 🙂 we like a happy ending. Thanks for reporting back, all fixes are worth knowing in case someone else has a similar issue.
