Hi folks,
I have been playing around looking at pairing my Nokia N95 and Sammy NC10 for navigation purposes – I have a holiday in Australia coming in 3 weeks and will be driving from Sydney to Melbourne.
I have installed extGPS on the N95 which allows it to pair, via bluetooth, to an external device.
I have installed the latest version of Google Earth on my Sammy which alllows you to specify realtime tracking.
I have got a satellite lock, bluetooth connection enabled and yesterday, for the first time, Google Earth actually found me sitting in my conservatory 😀
The 2 problems I have are:
1)the bluetooth connection between the NC10 and the N95 keeps dropping sporadically – I have checked both and there are no timeout settings, etc. any ideas?
2)Google earth does not track me when I move around – I am hoping this may be linked to problem 1!
Are any of you using nav software on the NC10 – anything you can recommend? preferably free (saving hard for holiday!)

StevenI often use my Nokia as modem via BT and have never had a problem with the connection being dropped. Sorry, but I have no experience of using navigation software on my NC10 nor Google Earth.
Why don’t you just buy a one-month licence for the turn-by-turn navigation software on your N95? Actually if you have never used turn-by-turn guidance on your handset you may get a free trial period which you can set to Australia.
I used this when we traveled to Rome last autumn and it worked well.
To be honest, I think my sister in law is going to lend us a Satnav to use but I wanted this as an excuse to play around with my gadgets 😀
