MemberHi guys,
Is there a better way of determining the remaining level of battery in terms of time? The windows one fluctuates wildy even when i have been doing the same thing for about 2-25 mins. e.g. Browsing the web – not flash or java it will say 5:15hrs remains, then next time I check it will be 6hrs and then some other random figure.
Thanks in advance.

ParticipantHave a look at this thread, there are many more.
Poor boot up time (~2-3 mins!) and battery life (~4.5hrs)
KiNeL recommends Everest Pro as being far more accurate although I have not tried it.You could try Battstat which is free and gives slightly better results than Window battery monitor.
However the best way of determining the remaining level of battery in terms of time is to keep an eye on the clock as usage time passes. The battery monitor will only calculate dependant upon the load at the time of viewing it, as you have noticed.

MemberThanks jeepers! I’m going to try a bios update, I heard that might improve things slightly.I’ve already got Battstat, reads about 15% higher than the windows version. Incidentally what are the optimum settings for the longest battery life using samsung battery manager and the running man button thing.
Also I heard there was a way to recalibrate your battery in the BIOS, is this true?

I normally run mine in the Customised setting with LCD brightness on 3 bars and CPU set to auto but you can choose Maximum Battery setting to have the battery last a bit longer if you wish.Quote:Also I heard there was a way to recalibrate your battery in the BIOS, is this true?Yes there is an option in the bios screen to calibrate the battery but it takes a long time!. This thread has some details although personally I haven’t seen the need to do it.
what is your battery wear?September 4, 2009 at 8:02 pm #199804Flozem
MemberI did a calibration in the bios, but haven’t experienced any improvement in the capacity read-outs.
