MemberHello everyone,
I have a problem. Hopefully someone can help me get it sorted. When I startup my NC10, it takes forever (approx. 10 – 15mins) for the Wireless network connection to show up on the taskbar. Which means that I can’t connect to the internet till it loads. I never had this problem when I first bought it. I have had the NC10 for about 6 months now. The only thing I have loading on startup is the default settings plus eset anti-virus. Any suggestions? Thanks..great forum btw. 🙂

MemberWelcome to the forum, citron2k1 🙂
Sorry to hear of your problem. Did you change anything just before you started having problems with connecting to the wireless network? Have you installed any new hardware or software on the network? Do you have any other PCs connected to your network?
Sorry, but I’ve no experience of ESET AV software but it’s always worth checking any software’s FAQs or forums to see if anyone else has experienced a similar problem.
I suppose the obvious way to check your system for any problems is as follows:
*Check all the driver and firmware updates have been applied to your Sammy and your router.
*Check your Windows installation is up to date using Windows/Microsoft Update.
*Check your AV software is up to date.
*Reboot your Sammy and your router. I would recommend a ‘cold boot’ for your Sammy, i.e. press and hold the on/off button until the computer turns off, wait a couple of seconds, and then turn it back on again.
*Download and install Update Checker to check that all software on your Sammy is up to date.
*Download and install CCleaner to clean up your system and check the Windows installation for any issues and fix those issues.
*Use Ccleaner to see which processes start when the computer starts and reduce this to the absolute minimum. If you’re not sure whether a process is necessary on start up, just ‘Disable’ it and see what happens on restart.
*Run ‘Disk Cleanup’ and remove old system files (More Options > System Restore > Clean up…).
*Run ‘Disk Defragmenter’.
If everything now works, take a disk image of your updated and cleaned system. If you have problems in the future you have a good starting point to recover your installation.Hope this helps.
