Hi everyone,
Just bought the N220 Plus from Ebuyer and I cant install the CrystalHD drivers.Does this model come with the CrystalHD hardware?
DracUK
Sorry, don’t know for sure about the N220 plus, but the N220 (UK) does. Ive not seen it mentioned in the reviews I have found, but then again Samsung denied (to me on the phone) that the original N220 had one.
You can check in device manager:
control panel – device manager – sound, video and game controllers.
its listed as ‘Broadcom CrystalHD Video Decoder’ in my N220.
see here for a pic – http://www.netbookreviews.net/wp-content/uploads/Samsung-N220-Broadcom-crystal-hd.jpg
If its not there, are there any devices listed as ‘other’?
hope it helps
Hi,Thanks for the reply.Nothing listed in device manager so I guess the Plus doesnt have it.
cheers

Hmm..mine neither N220 plus (UK)
so..it’s a plus…but it’s got LESS stuff in it? I’ve heard that it is a plugin chip that is available online – anyone heard of this?
Yes you can retro fit the Crystall HD, but chances are you’ll need to solder in a slot on the board to fit it.
My N220 came with it fitted and I was led to believe all UK N220’s had it.
What model code is yours, mines an NP-N220-JMD2UK with a manufacture date of April 2010.
Had a quick poke on my suppliers site today, the plus is a few £ more expensive and has a code of NP-N220-JP02UK…
According to the spec sheet the battery is 4400mAH instead of the listed 5900mAH for the N220..
The rest of the sheet looks the same but I’d take it with a pinch of salt as the weight is 2Kg more than the N220 😆
Get a screwdriver out and open it up and take a few pictures of the internals..
It is the NP-N220-JP02UK model.
The battery is 5900mAh and lasts 8hrs+ – I haven’t tested it further as thats all I have needed before recharging. Still hacked off about this HD module though.
I’ll ave a look through the forum for disassembly instructions so I can take some pics of the internals for you.
Same battery as mine then mAh wise, mines model AA-PL1VC6B.
