.. currently looking for 2 options for protecting my lovely new nc10 and was wondering if anybody has experience with different types of cases? or indeed if anybody has ‘made’ a case out of a biscuit tin or something?!!
Requirement 1 – I fancy taking my nc10 when I go mountain biking to do some work up in the highlands (sounds good to me!) .. this would need to be waterproof and fairly rugged (incase I fall off on the descents!) ..first thoughts are I could pop the netbook in a sealed plastic bag to protect it from any rain? so the case itself wouldn’t have to be waterproof?
Requirement 2 – To protect my nc10 when it’s in my rucksack for commuting / travelling .. basically something that would protect it from a sturdy ‘thump’ when I sit my bag down?
The neoprene sleeves are fairly padded, I trust mine to absorb enough shock for ordinary carrying around in my bag and haven’t had any dents or scratches yet. Not sure about waterproofing, perhaps you could buy a retail case and modify it with some clear plastic for the keyboard and screen?
tipper – You may not have seen this thread which may be of interest.
Hope this helps

[/quote1263602149]If I was going to subject my beloved Sammy to such treatment, the only case I would trust would be a Peli. I don’t have experience of entrusting my NC10 to one of these – I wouldn’t be so rough with it – but I have used a Peli case for camera gear and the protection it gave my kit was awesome 🙂
Wow that Peli stuff looks pretty manly! that would be perfect for my more adventurous netbooking!! When I finally get round to buying something of the sort I’ll be sure to take some photos of some “extreme” computing!
In the mean time I think i’ll opt. for a padded neoprene sleeve. Cheers for the advice chaps xx
