MemberMorning all,
I’d like to access your brain cells please.
I love my Sammy ( is white still the favourite ? or should i not open that can of worms 🙂 ) but it can be just a tad too big for meetings, note taking and things our grandparents used a paper notepad for… so i wondered what you guys use when the Sammy is just too big.
I used to have a PDA but it was pants… what i want to use it for is.. general Office stuff, pdf viewing, surfing, emails, gps would be nice..
Just wondered if there was anything out there.
Thanks in advance and have a nice day.

MemberOh come on … i know its a bank holiday TCM but please … 🙂
I’m looking for techy bling, unadultered flash-ster stuff.
Thanks. Nice to be back, wish I had more time to come on here… and actually help.. but work and college = head down rrss up … anything else = nil.
Be worth it though when i know things i can then ridicule and generally pooh pooh = the sign of a top education that. 🙂
i have been singing the praises of Sammy and this site so i have helped in a small way, an easy and a small way .
Any sensible suggestions ??

ParticipantFor a lot of that kind of stuff I use my iPhone, it does a very good job at web browsing, email and making very short notes (shopping lists) and other stuff.
Though during meetings I prefer pen and paper, well actually mechanical pencil and paper. It’s instantly usable, has an infinite battery life, never crashes, is lightweight, easy to use and great for doing quick drawings and note taking.
Though I did also used to use a Psion Revo, that was a great device with a decent word processor, spreadsheet and web browser. It’s a shame they don’t make them any more.
What PDA did you have?

Membera mechanical pencil – wowee . i didn’t know there was such a thing 🙂
It was an HP IPAQ.
i guess what i’m looking for isn’t out there yet – a smaller sammy.

ParticipantI used to use a Compaq (HP) iPAQ 3950, it was pretty decent. And was made even more useful for note-taking with a collapsable keyboard. I also had a clip on jacket/case with a second battery and compact flash card slot + a compact flash wifi card and some CF memory cards.
I think if I wanted a similar setup now I would buy a smartphone and a small bluetooth keyboard to go with it.

MemberI had a clip on keyboard but it was fiddly if you weren’t at a desk – maybe sitting as an audience member at a seminar or something.
i’m heading off to bling heaven with all those add-ons.. maybe they have an integral keyboard / other system these days.
thanks, i’ll check out the latest.

MemberI had some Psions – an Organiser II, and a Series 3 and 3a, and a Series 5.
Great little machines and much missed, but for meetings, conferences, brain storming sessions, lectures, etc. I use a mechanical pencil and paper and use mind maps for notes:

Which I then transfer to a computer using MindManager software.Hope that helps 🙂
