I’ve had an NC10 for about 10 months now – I really like it except there is always a lag when your browsing or even when your typing on-line. There doesn’t appear to be anything running in the background. Does anyone know why this is and how to stop it? I would of thought that this is poor if this is how it is out of the box?
Cheers,
Neal.
You’ve put up with this for 10 months ??
I suggest you contact Samsung and get it sorted before the warranty runs out.
Cheers,
Paul.
Try clearing-out any/all bloatware, especially McAfee (and replace witH Avast of AVG Free).
Neal Frost – The NC10 normally runs quite smoothly.
A few suggestions:
As __spc__ says, change the anti-virus if McAfee is still installed. Microsoft Security Essentials is good and free, as are Avast and AVG. If you are uninstalling McAfee use the removal tool after to complete the removal process.
If you are running the original IE browser try Firefox or Google Chrome as alternatives.
Run Task Manager and check the CPU usage which should not be maxing out at 100%.
Run Ccleaner and Auslogics Disk Defrag, both free.
Check the start up processes; this can be done with Ccleaner or Start > Run > msconfig.
If you are on wireless (or network cable connection) run a speed check to make sure you are getting the throughput you should from your connection. Try speedtest.bbmax or run the bbc iplayer diagnostics which is very good.
If you are getting poor results it may be time to consider an alternative Atheros driver.
Hope this helps and let us know how you get on.
If you are running Skype try uninstalling the web browser add-on (you can disable it in Internet Explorer). This will solve your lag problem.
i had exact same same problem, i just then changed the power profile to always on from max battery.
i know its obvious, but sometimes one forgets which power profile was left active previously.
on max battery the nc10 only runs at 800 mhz and typing online into a browser can lag badly sometimes at this speed (it did for me)
