The screen of my Samsung NC10 has been damaged. it is always dim, if i try to change the brightness settings, the brightness of the screen does not increase/decrease. it is always at one constant and low level.
i am aware that it is a hardware problem with the screen as it was dropped a few times and now this has happened.
i was wondering if anyone knows if it is an easy or hard fix?
i was thinking of just opening the screen up and seeing if there were any disconnected wires or anything, any suggestions???
THANKS!!!!
owh786 – Welcome to the forum.
Does the on screen graphic indicate the changing brightness levels although it doesn’t physically change? Try re-installing Samsung Easy Display Manager.
If you have Win 7 check the Mobility Centre – [Win Key] + [X] – brightness level control.
If you have XP check the power profile settings.
Try changing the user brightness control in the bios from auto to manual.
If it’s a screen connector/wiring harness problem try this thread.
Or it may just need a replacement screen if the machine has been dropped a few times as you say. Any other signs of malfunction on the screen? ie. streaks or blotches etc.
It may be worth checking that the problem does not exist when an external monitor is connected as that will prove the video output.
Hope this helps.
thanks for reply,
yes the on-screen graphics indicate change but physically there is no change.
i am running xp, i have tried the bios, still it is the same.
no streaks, blotches.
video is fine with external monitor, it definitely is the nc10’s screen.
i will check the thread you posted now…..
