NC10 Back from Samsung Warranty Repair — "Operating System Not Found"

My sister just got her NC10 back from Samsung warranty repair (bad keyboard). When she turned it on, it said to press F2. When she presses F2, she gets a notification that “operating system not found.”

Any ideas as to what’s going on here? More importantly, other than shipping it back to Samsung to have the hard drive reformatted and a new operating system installed (thereby erasing her data), does anyone have an idea of how to fix this problem?

There was no external drive or USB stick plugged in when she booted?

Don’t you have the o/s on the backup discs that came with the machine?

I can’t imagine why Samsung would vape the OS to repair a keyboard so I wonder if the HD has suffered in transit.

Hold F2 down whilst powering on until the BIOS screen comes up then under Main you should see the HD listed alongside IDE Channel1 0 Master Can’t tell you what it will say because there are different types of drives fitted but it should say something, possibly WDC or Toshiba something or other.

If it shows nothing then I’m afraid it’s back to Samsung.
