Randall
MemberHi all
Firstly hi to every one im the owner of my new N510 that i bought the other day from ebuyer. But after playing with it for a while the whole netbook was getting fairly hot then i installed call of duty 4 just to see if it would run (yes it did) and i got a blue screen of death so i restarted i noticed that the bottom on the netbook was Stupidly hot so i ran a cpu temp program and the cpu and gpu temp was 98 degrees C :-O any one for tea ??? imagine what it was before the blue screen ? so now i have to call ebuyer tomorrow to probably told its got to be sent here there and everywhere before they replace it for me great netbook but i hope they dont tell me it has to be repaired as i dont want a cpu that has hit easily over 100 degrees C has any one else heard of this before with these ? the fan (im guessing there should be one) just does not work at all
Cheers

MemberHi Randall, welcome to the forum,
Boiling hot, literally!
As you have had it for such a short while I would have thought that requesting a replacement unit might be a good idea. Had you bought it from a shop I am sure you are within your rights to do so, I am assuming that the same rights extend to on-line buyers, I may be wrong there though. It would be worth asking anyway, as a repair will take some time, short or long.

Memberwell i am going to refuse a repair due to the fact that once the cpu has reached that temp range its going to have caused some damage to the silicon chip. if they say they are going to repair it then lucky i paid on my credit card and under the credit consumner act i can say the goods where not fit for purpose and cancel the payment throught the credit card 🙂 so one way or another i will get a new one. such a shame as its a cracking little toy yet to try the hdmi out but the screen is top notch for such a small device. any way i hope to be back on here with a nice new one ( not that this one is old)
Cheers

ParticipantRandall – Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear of the problem with the brand new machine. Always a complete disappointment when something like this happens.
I would expect ebuyer to ship a replacement and arrange for the faulty unit to be collected but let us know how you get on.December 7, 2009 at 10:28 am #206945Randall
MemberWell i have spoken to ebuyer and they have arranged for collection of the netbook tomorrow and should have a replacement with me by the end of the week. Still annoying but i guess thats all i can do. Also as a side note will i gain anything by installing vista onto this machine ? i would put 2gb of ram in if i go down the vista route.

MemberIf ebuyer are replacing rather than repairing your N510, why can’t they send the replacement computer with the courier who is collecting your faulty netbook 😕
FWIW I wouldn’t bother with Vista but Windows 7 works really well on the Sammy netbooks.

Memberwell would have been nice for ebuyer to do that but no….. only reason i ask is i have windows vista already that i dont use any more so i can put it onto a machine. But i would have to buy W7 is it worth the £80 price tag ?

MemberI would pay £80 NOT to have to use Vista! Or pay nothing and keep XP.
Each to their own though.

Look for the Window 7 Family Pack , it’s a three user licence. Not seen a two user version though.Hope this helps
