Just bought a new N220 and after a labourious setup I’m very happy – BUT
There is a persistent error in device manager that lists under “OTHER” a
Multimedia controller with a yellow warning triangle.
Updating the device driver doesn’t work .
Samsung update has been run but the error is still there.
Searched the Samsung site but no luck.
Display,Sound,Lan,Wireless,internet all working OK.
However,USB sticks not recognised.
Is there a fix or have I bought a dud unit ?
I’d really appreciate some help.
Thanks
Welcome to the forum Corwin,
You could try deleting the device completely, then on a restart Windows should reinstall with the correct driver.
If all logic fails then try an F4 at boot to return to how you originally set up your netbook.
Corwin – Welcome to the forum
To add to the good advice above, if you have a UK N220 it could be missing the Broadcom Crystal HD card driver, if it is not listed in Device Manager.
Hope this helps
Thanks for the replies.
-Tonytb- I’ve tried removing and rebooting but it doesn’t work. Its also my initial setup so I have
nowhere to restore to !
Jeepers01- Although some Broadcomm stuff is listed in device manager it seems to be bluetooth stuff and I can find no reference to Broadcomm Crystal HD (it is a UK N220), I can’t find the driver on
the Samsung site – do you have a link to a driver download ?
Here’s hoping.
.
YES! YES! YES!
Hats off to Jeepers01 for the hint as to what the mystery controller might be.
Found the Broadcom site http://www.broadcom.com/support/crystal_hd/ and downloaded the crystalhd_3.3.0,zip file. From this extracted the 32 bit version folder crystalHD_3.3.0.32.
Run setup found inside this folder. No notification from Windows after setup finishes but problem fixed.
Thanks to all responders.
I do wonder why the problem occured during an essentially automated setup process and why
the drivers don’t appear to be listed on the Samsung site ?
Many thanks again.
Corwin
