N220 completely frozen. How do I turn it off?

My netbook 220 froze completely with the screen saver frozen. I tried closing the lid, control alt and delete, pressing all the F buttons and switching the on switch. In the end we took the battery out. There must be a simpler way of turning it off. Can anyone advise me. Thanks. Mariecatjo.

Mariecatjo – Welcome to the forum

Is this problem a one off or is it repeating?
Was the sammy recovering from sleep/hybernate when it froze?

Check the event log for clues
