Sorry if this post appears twice, but I had ‘link troubles’ when posting.
How do I tell if the broadcom decoder is running or not?
I’m playing around with the wildlife HD 720p video supplied with W7, and when playing in a maximized window, task manager shows my CPU as 55-65% (ish).
How do I know if I’m using the broadcom decoder or not?
or do I need to set it up and/or install drivers etc?
Thanks
found this post – http://www.sammymobile.com/plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?49876 – will investigate.
I dont know if ‘blazer’ or anyone with Broadcom experience is around, but can someone confirm if MS WMV vids are supported by the broadcom decoder or not?
To try to test the decoder, I downloaded and installed GOM and played a 720 MP4 video. It seemed to be using up 55-65% CPU.
I then disabled all the codecs (as described in the above link) in GOM, and it played at about 20-25% CPU.
Is this about right for the decoder ‘gain’ in CPU usage?
Just to make sure, I disabled the decoder in Device Manager and GOM would not then play the video at all, so I assume its working.
But, with the broadcom decoder enabled and using GOM with no codecs, Im still told GOM does not have a codec available to use, in a window warning, but this can be dismissed and the video plays OK.
So I guess my decoder is working OK ?
A few queries though:
1 Should the decoder work with WMV files? (Im not sure).
2 Should the windows Media Player included with W7 starter use the broadcom decoder, or can it be made to do so?
3. The drivers I have for the broadcom decoder are listed in Dev Man as driver version – 2.49.0.0, dated – 18/11/2009. Are the se the latest or are more recent ones available? (Samsng and Windows update does not show any updates for the device.)
Thanks
re 3 above, are these the correct broadcom update drivers for the N220?

If so, anyone tried them? Do they help?
If Ive read it right, I think they are the ones and think they will be needed as/when flash 10.1 is released.
