MemberHi all, hope somebody can help me with this one, just got my new N210 up & running abeit with some slight teething problems firstly the REALTEK wireless adaptor detected my network but wouldn’t accept the password code, (at the time thought it was strange only one network appeared; normally there’s about 8 listed) then i updated everything using “samsung update” and windows update, using hard connection; and lo & behold the wireless connected with no issues, my problem now is that there is still only one (mine) network availible, my other laptops using same ADSL modem all show 8-9 additional networks.
Can anyone tells me what’s going??…is the adaptor faulty, i havn’t re-installed dthe driver yet just wanted to see if anyone else had the same issue or knew of a problem!!.
Secondly, Hyperspace which ships with the N210 didn’t install, i F6’ed at start up and only have Windows 7 as an option and can’t find a way to install???…or more to teh point whether it’s worth installing…reson for N210 buy was for watching vidoe on long haul flights so battery consumption is vital for a 10 hour flight..would hyperspace give the claimed 30% over windows???
Lastly, as mentioned above; unit is for video on long haul, has anyone got any good tips for saving battery power to reach the holy grail 11-12 hours samsung claim…
many thnaks in advance to anyone who’s read this far!!!.. 🙂

Memberpersonally i found hyperspace a piece of junk.. it was the first thing i removed. I personally don’t see a point in using some half baked OS when I can just use XP and boot up a fraction slower than hyperspace but have all the bells and whistles. I’m getting 8:42 on XP with wireless on.
Oh and i don’t think you need to install hyperspace, it should be on by default?
If you’re using to decode videos you’ll probably save on battery life by using optimized codecs which don’t use 100% CPU to decode.

Memberthanks for the info blazer, i’m not too bothered about hyperspace, just one of those things, the netbook’s new so just wanted to test it out then decide whether to keep it or not, but have read similar reports to your answer stating it’s junkware!!….and thanks for the codec tip, mostly the video’s to be played are in AVI (xvid codec) gonna be using VLC media player to playback, unless anyone has a better alternative?
to achive the 8.42 hours (with wireless) do you have any particular settings you implement to maximize battery life?

Membernothing special, just winXP SP3, disabled bluetooth.
Un-installed/ stopped services and everything which i don’t use.April 29, 2010 at 7:51 am #212979Luca69
MemberHi,
About the Hyperspace also on my N210 was not installed by default, but currently I’m happy with Win7 🙂
About the player, VLC is a “historical” one but there are better on the web 😉 I use Splash Lite http://www.mirillis.com/splash.html
For the battery duration, you can forget the 10h looking at videos: using the netbook w/o WLAN and with brightness at min I got 8h30minApril 29, 2010 at 11:38 am #212978tonyd1000
Memberthanks for the replies, i’m pretty happy so far with win 7, will try splash lite; been using VLC and playing video at full screen with wireless & blutooth off and getting approx 7 – 7.5 hours, will install xvid codec to see if that brings up the playing hours, as for 10-12 hours stated, i always knew i’d never get that, in fact i’m happy with 7.5 hours playing video, just wanna squeese as much out of the battery as possible…anyone got any more battery saving tips??
cheers
